Catholic Weddings

Program Question

So I was discussing wedding costs with my parents yesterday and mentioned that I need to get wedding programs since a lot of people are not Catholic and our song books do not have anything about the order of mass.

My Dad then said that the church provides the programs. Is this common or a Church by Church  thing? Should I just contact my Parish?

Definitely a church-by-church thing. I have heard of it occasionally, but I would not say that it is the norm.

Our church did not provide programs, nor did they require them. However, if we did them (which we did), we had to have them pre-approved my our priest before we went forward with the printing.

I would definitely contact your parish and hear it from them. I am not saying to not trust your Dad, but I have never heard of a Catholic church providing the programs for you. Besides, you would still have to submit them the info such as what songs and verses you are using.

I'm with PP on this one.  I've never heard of the church supplying them.

Actually, they're pretty much fun to make

Our church makes them - they will not allow us to make them (even if they approve them) - apparently it has to do with copyright law. However, they won't include the "who's-who" (family and bridal party) part, so they encourage us to make a separate, second program for that purpose.

Our church does not provide them.  However, they were very involved in approving and offering suggestions for the ones I made.  There will only be a handful of Catholics attending so I thought it would be necessary.  Plus I like the idea of noting everyone in the wedding party so that both sides know who everyone is on the day.
