Wedding Program

I just finished our wedding program.  It ended up being 20 pages long!!!!  I wanted to include all of the steps along with responses, Hymns and songs for the large amount of non Catholic people attending our wedding ceremony.  Now I am thinking it is over kill!  I took my layout from Catholic Wedding Help. com and from a fellow Knotties bio (probably one of you ladies).  Sorry I don't remember who's :(.  I talked with some of my non Catholic friends that are coming and they had said it would be great if they could follow along and know what was happening.  IDK!  What are your thoughts ladies??

That is a little long. Think about how much $ that is gonna cost in printing esp if you are expecting a lot of people to show at the church. I think ours is 6 pages typed up in 12 or 14 font and it is detailed.

Have you shown it to your priest for review? Ours checked ours over and said it was really good. If you want to show you mine, you can page me on this board or the June board and I can send you a PM.

Is it because you've included all of the text, readings, and responses?

I went to a wedding that had a VERY detailed program once - basically every word of the ceremony and mass was in there. I actually didn't like it because I found myself (and others) reading the program instead of really paying attention to what was happening.

I would provide an outline of the ceremony and mass, but not every little detail.

Yes there is a lot of detail, but it is mostly responses and songs.  It does include the cover.  LOL!  Oh and I tried to keep sections together on the same page.  For example, I tried to keep the entire gospel on the same page.

My program is 2  81/2 x 11 pages folded in 1/2 (8 pages total if you count the cover/back cover).  I included all the steps and responses, but did not include all the words for the readings or the songs (we listed the songs and what pages in the hymnal they can be found).  I think it is plenty for the non-catholic guest to be able to know what is going on wihout it being over kill.

Ours is just like mswood1977's, except we included the text from the two readings (they wound up being the very center of the program. I was pretty detailed with it because none of my family is Catholic and they won't have a clue what's going on.

I can also send you the template of mine. It's not completely finished because I'm waiting on FMIL to send us "the big red book" from the church (I guess it's their wedding planning book) before we decide on every last detail. I'd say it's about 90% complete, though.

I just used a MS Word template and followed along with CatholicWeddingHelp.com suggested for a full mass ceremony. I thin once I have it finished, I'll send it to the priest via email to have him review, before I print them off. I'd hate to print and ship them, only to find out we have to make some major changes.

I'm not putting the full text of the readings or responsorial on the program. I am putting the whole order of the mass, etc. but for the congregational hymns, I am putting the page number in the hymnal, for the readings, I am putting the book, chapter and verses then for the kyrie and other responses, I will put the text, but the non-Catholics probably won't participate in those responses even if the music is in the program. ***mehgank *** can you please send me your template? I'm still playing around with my format and would like to see what you used if you don't mind. Thanks!
