Ceremony Question

Ok, I have posted on here before, but before I ask my quesitons, I must let you all know that I am not Catholic, but my FI is...I am looking into converting though. I am familiar with the religion and am learning a lot more about it. I am not, however, certain about all the parts of the Catholic wedding. I know I could ask my FI, but he is out of town right now so I thought I would ask you all.

With that said, I am trying to get our ceremony put together but I have a couple of questions:

1. For the Gospel Acclamation, is it ok to use the Celtic Alleluia? If so, does the cantor sing that?
2. During the presentation of the gifts, is the cantor singing or is this just strickly the organist?
3. Same thing for communion, does the cantor sing or is it just the organist?
4. For communion, I am thinking about using One Bread, One Body. Is this a good choice?

Celtic: Yes, unless the wedding is during Lent

    2. The offertory song is optional whether it is instrumental or sung. We should be encouraging full conscious active participation, so having a song that can be sung by the congregation is good.

    3. It is a requirement that the Communion song is sung, and the people have access to singing it. (Lyrics in the program, or in the book).

    4. One Bread One Body is perfect for that.

During the presentation of the gifts, is the cantor singing or is this just strickly the organist? It is usually both. But I am sure you could just have the cantor sing if you wanted 3. Same thing for communion, does the cantor sing or is it just the organist? I believe it is the same thing until the priest consecrates the host and prepares the altar. 4. For communion, I am thinking about using One Bread, One Body. Is this a good choice? I think that is a great choice. We used I am the Bread of Life. Did you guys receive a copy of the Together for Life booklet? We actually didn't receive one when we were planning our wedding either, but I would suggest checking out catholicweddinghelp.com for more ideas. Good Luck!

     1. For the Gospel Acclamation, is it ok to use the Celtic Alleluia? If so, does the cantor sing that?
Yes, the Celtic Alleluia is a good choice. My church strongly recommended using the Celtic Allelui since it is the most commonly used and people would be more likely to sing along with it.

    2. During the presentation of the gifts, is the cantor singing or is this just strickly the organist?
It's up to you, but we just had instrumental music during the presentation of the gifts. Since there's not a collection taken up like at a normal mass, the presentation of the gifts is pretty quick. So it didn't seem worth having everyone pull out hymnals for one verse of a song.

    3. Same thing for communion, does the cantor sing or is it just the organist?
Our cantor sang and stated the page number for everyone to sing along with her.

    4. For communion, I am thinking about using One Bread, One Body. Is this a good choice?
I really like this song and think it is a great choice for a wedding since it hits on both the themes of communion and unity. (FI thought it was too slow, so we choose a different song for ours)

I always liked "One Bread, One Body" :-)
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
