I have seen a few good program templates that I like, but they don't include the unity candle ceremony. Does anyone have a template that includes this? Or if not, when does it traditionally occur? TIA!
The unity candle is not part of the catholic marriage rite. It was invented on a soap opera. It is especially unnecessary in a mass as the Eucharist is the actual unity. It makes the congregation go from active participants to spectators. Many churches/priests won't allow it.
If they do many times it goes after the vows, before the intercessions.
Like pp said, the unity candle is not typically part of the Catholic ceremony. Our priest did not permit them.
There are several sites that have program templates online. And you can always edit the program to suit your needs and insert the unity candle. But check with your priest first, b/c some don't allow them.
My BIL/SIL had the unity candle in between their vows and the prayers of the faithful. In their program, they had "Unity Candle" followed by the name of the song and the person singing it.
