How do I write the bible verse abbreviation?

Sorry guys that this is such a stupid question.  But, how do I write the abbreviation in my programs?  I want to make sure it's right.

I'm doing Ruth Chapter 1 verses 16 - 17.

Right now I have it as Ruth 1:16-17.  Is that correct?

Also, Riss, I want to thank you so much for your posting your reading because I got the idea to do this reading from you.  We really didn't like any of the readings for the old testament in the together for life book but you posted this one and I loved it so we got special permission to do it.  Thanks.  Sorry I keep copying your ideas!

I used that reading too :)

Anyway the abbreviation looks correct to me. (At least, that's how I did it...)

You are correct with Ruth 1:16-17. I am using that reading too. I heard it when we attended PreCana classes. Great choice!

Haha, no worries. I guess I should point out one caveat though... a few of the more observant guests were quick to point out that the reading is about Ruth speaking to her MIL...

Yeah, I read that BUT.... the lady at my church pointed out how it relates to weddings because when we get married, his family will be my family and mine will be his and we should treat each other as such.  So, even though she is my mother in law, I should still treat her with the love and kindness that I treat my own mother and the same goes for each of his relatives.  I think that is a very nice thought of two families becoming one.
