Catholic Weddings

Who is having flower girls in their wedding?

I was wondering since my church doesn't allow for flowers or anything on the ground/aisle, should I have flower girls anyway? I've never been to a catholic wedding so I am totally unfamiliar if having flower girls is usually done anyway. Are you ladiies having flower girls in your bridal party?

We did. They just carried mini bouquets. You could also do pomanders or baskets.

I am having one. I think she is going to carry a pomander, but I have also toyed with the mini-bouquet.

Really, the point of a flower girl is to have a little girl you are close to look really cute. My experience IRL is that the petals are not as perfectly scattered as in movies anyway. Honestly, I would probably go with a pomander or mini-bouquet even if petals were allowed (they are not in my church either), because that seems to just add to the potential drama/things to go wrong/stage fright that comes with having young children in the wedding.

We had 2 FG's. They carried mini bouquets similar to the BM's. Pics in bio.

We're not having a flower girl after all (but just because our niece's parents opted out of having her in the wedding) -- but when we were planning on one, we were going to have her carry a pomander.

We are not having a flower girl because we don't know any little girls that we are close too. My fi and I both don't have any nices, and none of our friends have kids, since we are the first of our friends to get married.

Ditto the other ladies, you can have the FG do other things other than just spread petals.  As mentioned, they can hold mini bouquets, pomanders, even poles with ribbon suspended from the top as popular in European traditions.

We decided to have several FGs because we love kids and we want them to participate, even if they don't all have matching dresses, as long as they wear ivory.

We are having two and they are carrying mini bouquets!  They are actually very excited to have bouquets just like the "big girls" as they put it!

Ditto DaniDawn... no FG for us because we're in the middle of a wave of weddings in our group of friends and no one has kids yet!  My sister's husband had lots of cousins with young daughters, so they had several flower girls at their wedding.  They just gave them mini-bouquets similar to the bridesmaid bouquets!

Yes, we're having two. And I asked about the flower petals- my church is ok with it.

We had 3 flowergirls, since I couldn't bear to pick between all the kids in our families.  They carried baskets filled with petals (they were allowed to scatter them).
