Engagement Encounter

FI and I attended an Engagement Encounter weekend this weekend, and it was awesome.  It really reaffirmed how much we do want to marry each other.  We had done some really in-depth work with our priest before hand, so we had already sorted out almost all of the issues covered, but the weekend was still powerful.  Just wanted to share my positive experience.

How wonderful!  EE was also powerful for DH and I.  We've kept our workbooks and occasionally go back to re-read the love letters we wrote then as well as to write out responses to prompts we didn't get a chance to address during our weekend more than a year ago.  Many blessings to you and your FI!

We loved our pre-cana. It really made us aware and confident as each topic was covered that we had already covered these things on our own and were on the same page. It made us feel really good about getting married.

That is so great to hear!  We had a great experience too!  I'm really glad that it is a requirement in certain parishes )

Yes, this exactly!  It was hysterical but for two of the topics, FI and I had nearly identical answers for every question on the page!

I'm glad you had a postive experience.

SInce SO and I live together and have children, Pre-Cana or EE was not applicable. we had a marriage dynamics retreat and it was so beautiful. It was nice to have two days to ourselves and remind ourselves why we love each other. The games were so much fun. impressive how much we knew each other.

My parish actually requires ALL couples living together to go through the dynamics retreat instead of Pre-Cana or EE. I'm not sure what the lectures are about in EE and I didn't ask. In marriage dynamics,they give a few lectures on  "problems" and their cause, what changed after we moved in with each other etc. It's still a lot of fun, we still had the "how much do you know eachother" game and a lot of "dynamics"
