NWR: Another Dr. Appt Post

I had my first appt with the NaPro doc today. It was 4 hours away from home, but DH came with me and the trip was totally worth it.

It was nice to have a doc that didn't dismiss my concerns and throw BC at me and tell me to come back when I want to get pregnant. But it was funny that after I told her what was going on, she basically asked me for my own diagnosis. :)

Anyway, she gave me a long list of labs to get once I'm back home to confirm what she thought was going on and to see if there's anything else we didn't anticipate. She also did an endometrial biopsy, which was perhaps the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I felt like a big baby because I actually cried. :(

I will return next month after I get the results of the labs so we can go about fixing the problems. Yay attentive doctors!

There's people that drive from states away to go the napro docs here. THey are so worth it. I hope things get fixed and working.

I am curious...what is NaPro? I have heard you ladies talk about it on here, but don't really know what it is for sure.

its the medical connection for fertility with the creighton method of NFP. One charts creighton, which is standardized, the docs can diagnose and treat starting from the info they get from the charts.

Yay! I really pray that you continue to move forward with finding answers and solutions. I'm glad that your appointment was worth the extra effort it took for you guys to get to it.

FWIW, I think an endometrial biopsy sounds painful, and I don't blame you one bit for crying.

Oh yeah, the needle incident... we still have another 3 months to wait for the 6 month testing to clear him. So half way there!

I know! It's pretty terrible; I won't lie. Plus, it feels even worse when my body is like BABIES!!! I WANT BABIES!

^^Your body does that too?!?! (Joking...kind of. I've got all kinds of baby fever, but FI and I are really truly discerning/discussing/trying to figure out the timing of the whole babies thing once we are married.)

Being married, dealing with health issues/wonky charts/plus the needle stick must be all kinds of terrible. I am certainly praying for you.

    Hooray for attentive doctors!

I still am not a fan of the way Creighton model is taught, but I did get enough charts done that I was finally able to go to a NaPro-trained doctor a while back.... and am getting blood drawn every other day for a complete hormonal profile.   I'm guessing those are the labs you are going to do?  Having blood drawn that often is not pleasant (and I can't even imagine how unpleasant an endometrial biopsy must be!), but like you I am relieved that a doctor is actually  intent on fixing the problem, not just handing out BC.

Now if only the Creighton classes didn't make me want stab a fork in my eye out of boredom...  But I guess nothing can be perfect.  ;-)

I can't imagine how you're coping with the needle stick.  I  hope that by the time those three months are up, you'll at least have more answers about your body.

I didn't find the Creighton teaching too bad, mostly since we didn't have to endure most of it! There were no other couples during our "intro" so our instructor was like, "Do you really want me to spend an hour teaching you the anatomy and physiology of reproduction? Or can I trust you remember your first two years of med school?" LOL So most of it was just checking in that we were following the rules and could progress to the next set.

Uggg...I agree with Gulf Coaster. I really appreciate the Creighton Method (and I suspect will be doing some hormone tests in the next couple of months, myself), but I find the teaching tedious beyond belief.

For my intro class, before the hour on reproduction, we had a diocese-mandated hour on why NFP works/is good/etc. By the time we were done my med-student fiance and I were feeling really stabby. The last two one-on-one sessions with the sloooow trips through the picture dictionary have been almost as bad.

I also find the instruction book  to be somewhat frustrating. I get that they want people to work with doctors and instructors who know what they are doing, rather than self-diagnosing and self-treating, but I'm a smart person and find the organization and depth to be lacking.
