Ceremony readings

Who are y'all asking to read at your wedding? We have 3 readings and are stuck trying to decide who to ask.

The bride's aunt and uncle read one, an aunt of the groom read one and a good school chum of the bride read one

We asked a close friend of mine from high school, and my husband's brother's (our Best Man) girlfriend, who we are also incredibly close to. They are both practicing Catholics, unlike many of our other friends.

The readers don't have to be Catholics though, right? At least I don't think our parish requires it.

<div>Some priests may require the ideal case that they be Catholic.  Others don't.  But as a rubric, they do not have to be Catholic.  It is in good form that they are a baptised Christian, have a grasp of the role of a liturgical minister, and believe in the Word of God, since they're reading it.</div><div>

Our Godmothers are doing the two readings.  His godfather is doing prayers of the faithful and we still haven't picked who will be bringing up the gifts.

we did not have readers, but if we did, we would ahve asked my SIL (who was not asked to be a bridesmaid) and probably my cousin.  my personal preference would have been for two catholics, although i dont know what my church would have required since it didnt come up.

We asked two good friends from the young adult group that we're involved in... both are practicing Catholics.

We had one of H's cousins, and two of H's friends.  The friend I had wanted to ask to be a reader declined the offer (not a fan of public speaking).

Our parish doesn't require them to be Catholic, though they suggested they be Christian.

Ours are a friend of FI's, one of my friends, and a couple that are friends of both of ours are reading the Prayers of the Faithful.

We are going to have my sister (prayers of the faithful), my best friend/confirmation sponsor (first reading), and my fiance's brother (second reading).

We have still not decided who will be EMEs or who will bring up the gifts.

I think we will have FI's two Catholic aunts do two readings. I don't know if the church requires that they be Catholic, but it is my preference that they be Catholic. We will have the priest do the Gospel reading. I am hoping to have my RCIA sponsor to the prayers of the faithful.

We are having two readings and leading the response. First one will be FH's sister, the second will be my brother and we haven't decided on the response just yet. One more little detail to worry about! :)

We are going to allow our junior bridesmaid (fiance) neice to do one of the readings. My Fiances nephew will more then likely be doing the second reading and I am going to ask my bridesmaid to do the third reading. It's usually those close to you or in your wedding party that do the readings. It's your day, you decide who you'd like to do the readings. Hope all goes well! We are doing our marriage prep course on the last weekend in May. We have been given all the books to go over the questions together in advance before we go together with the large group on that weekend.
