Newbie Intro & Question

Not sure if intros are required here so...
Quick Back story: I used to post a bit on other boards when I first joined TK, then became pregnant ( and headed to the bump) & then my FI was diagnosed with cancer. So needless to say, wedding & marriage plans were put on hold. Fast fwd to today: we are exchanging vows in a very intimate ceremony with our parents and siblings at our Church. (followed by Lunch) My FI is still going through chemo and I am 7 months pregnant (i know i know)

So, what/how exactly does a Catholic wedding ceremony go? My Priest said its 20-30 min just the ceremony & about 40-50 with a full mass.

For the ceremony only :
Are readings included? Songs? I just don't really know what else I have to plan for.
_Sorry if these are dumb questions. I cant remember the last Catholic ceremony I've been to, and honestly most of these details don't matter to me. Im just so grateful to be able to get married under God and have my marriage blessed vs. a civil ceremony...

TIA

First of all, let me just say- WOW. You've been through a lot. Congrats on keepin it together in the process.

Secondly, I'm not 100% on what all is involved in a ceremony w/o mass so you'd probably want to just ask your priest.

Sorry I couldn't offer more info, but I did want to give you props for being such a strong woman. Good luck with everything!!

</div><div>Thanks so much. Its been quite a ride, and its not over yet. Im glad we're finally going to exchange vows, but all the frilly details suddenly arent as important as they were, say, a year ago... I really just need/want the bare minimum. Im just grateful we have each other and my baby is healthy and FI too for now. </div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I will arrange to sit down with our Priest  - Im a nutty planner person, so I like to have everything figured out.</div>

Yes! I haven't been around much because I've been super busy but after Easter I should have more time to hang around there.

    Welcome & Congratulations!

I'm usually coming in late, but I see that ring pop & lindsay got you some answers while I was out shoving the best italian food down my face.  You would think I didn't get out much if you saw what I ate tonight!

My thoughts & prayers for your FI while he completes his treatments.

Congratulations on your baby!!  I hope your FI makes a complete recovery.

Ceremony without Mass does have all the readings: Old testament, New Testament and Gospel.  I'm not sure about how many songs it has though.  I'm sure the organist will be able to help you out more there.

The website ring_pop directed you to is a great one...it's answered a lot of my questions regarding the ins and outs of the ceremony and Mass.

Hope everybody stays healthy and happy!
