Sunday wedding?

Is anyone having a Sunday wedding?  We are, our priest already agreed to it, but I think I read somewhere that for Sunday weddings, the readings have to be the usual Sunday mass readings.  Is this true?  We were planning on just the ceremony, not a Nuptial Mass as my FI is not Catholic.  We were sort of excited to get to pick out our own readings...

Sunday weddings are not allowed in my parish, but I have heard the same thing about having to use the normal Sunday readings if you get married on a Sunday.   The easiest way to find out is the call your priest and ask.

I don't think Sunday weddings are allowed in my parish either. Ask your priest and/or person that coordinates the music for the weddings to be sure before you get things picked out.

while i'm not 100% certain on this, if you arent having Mass, then it may not matter what readings you use.

Our Parish doesn't allow sunday weddings either. I would just call and talk to the church and see what they say!

I'm having a Sunday wedding, and we were allowed to choose whatever readings we wanted out of the little booklet our priest gave us.  You should talk to your priest and see what he says!

    Hi everyone!
I just wanted to get back to you all.  As we're not having a full mass/our wedding does not coincide with a scheduled mass, we get to choose our own readings.  If we had asked to get married during a normally schedule mass (I'm not sure why anyone would do this, maybe someone REALLY involved with the church), then the predetermined readings would have to be used.
Tahnk you again for all of your help!

Hey- We're getting married on a Sunday in Philadelphia this year and I am having a really hard time finding a church that will do a Sunday wedding. Where did you have your ceremony?
    Thanks!

We had ours at my church in Menlo Park, California.  We were established parishioners, and our church does not do afternoon mass on Sundays, so it worked out for us.  I don't know if we would have been able to pull it all off if we attended a different church or if the local churches all had mass throughout the afternoon on Sundays.

Most churches won't do weddings on Sundays, unless you have it during a regularly scheduled mass with only a small amount of extra people. There are exceptions, but not many. When you approach a church about marriage, they usually won't give you a specific date until you've done the pre-marital investigation with them.
