Happy Monday!

So nobody started a day thread (unless we count gorgeous wedding pics as a day thread)
How was everybody's weekends?  Mine was fun, one of my BMs was in town from NJ on Friday night so it was great to see her.  Saturday we went to my dad's side of the family very extended family reunion.  Usually these are just a lunch thing but this extended into dinner and bar time after.  It was great catching up with people!
This marks my last week working 50 hours at my job (woo hoo!)  Then I start winding down the hours to get ready to start teaching. Can't wait!

Had a meeting first thing this morning, so I'm just getting around to stopping by here. 

It's finally my last week at the university!  Woot!  But that also means the death of my daytime knotting career for the most part .  I'll unfortunately mostly be only on at night after this week if I am needed for any reason, FYI.

This weekend was pretty good -- just a lot of downtime for relaxing, reading, etc.  I had a little mini-breakdown yesterday about FI leaving.  He was really sweet, trying to comfort me, but then I felt bad because I could tell he was blaming himself that I'm sad.  That's definitely not what I meant to do at all!

Chelsea -- glad your reunion was fun!  It's awesome that your family makes the effort to put one together.  My last official family reunion was in the very early 90s.  I barely remember it.  I do remember drinking too much soda without my mom noticing, and then getting a terrible tummy ache.  I've also carefully monitored my soda consumption since.  It's amazing how those things can stick with you!

He's leaving for school this Friday.  I've gotten used to having him around (he's been living with his parents, just a few minutes away from my house) and now it's really hitting me that he's going to be gone   I'll see him most weekends, but it won't be the same, you know?  I like knowing that after work, I get to see my love.  And I won't get to do that anymore for awhile

I know EXACTLY how you feel.  The first year of our relationship we only saw eachother on weekens.  Sundays were my least favorite day of the week.  Now that I see him every day I coudln't imagine going back to just weekends.  I"m so sorry! I know it's tough but skype can be your best friend!!

I know JUST what you mean about Sundays being the worst -- all last year, every time I'd visit him, and would head home on Sunday, I would cry for the first 20 minutes of my drive back lol.  It was just so hard.  As soon as I got in the car, that was the furthest point from when I'd see him next.  I'm definitely not looking forward to going through the distance, but I keep telling myself that come next August, I'll be his wife and will live with him and see him all the time and won't ever have to do the distance thing again.

Long-Distance girls, FI and I were long distance from 2004 to 2008 when I finally got a job in his hometown.  It is definitely trying but I also love the sense of independence I have.  In college, so many girls would ask me why I wouldn't transfer to my boyfriend's college!  Why would I need to go to college with him?
It is so rewarding though, to deal with that stress and then finally live with him permanently!  Be strong!

In other news, today is the first day of inservice and I am reeeeally excited about what this year holds!

H and I were only long-distance for two summers.  The first summer we were only sorta unofficially dating (long story), but when we left campus for the second summer, I definitely cried.

I am trying to be happy, but it is hard. I am just fortunate that pain is all that I have and wasn't seriously injured (or at least I hope). I hit a deer on Thursday morning going to work. I might have totaled my car. Long story short, still haven't been checked out b/c BIL got married this weekend and H was in the wedding and I didn't have a car b/c we didn't get rental until Saturday. I slept all day yesterday. H is meeting me after work today to get checked. If nothing else, it will give me peace of mind.

I had to come back to work since I am the only one working and I didn't get paid for Thurs and Fri since I haven't been here 90 days.

I can definitely relate.  Although I miss so much, I'm glad we've been long distance because I've been able to have time for my friends, and I'm used to doing things on my own, from grocery shopping to taking out the trash to watching tv after dinner.  It's nice to feel like I can do things on my own. 

I honestly think this week before he leaves is harder than him being gone lol.  It's just the dread/anticipation lol.

Resa77- I know exactly how you feel! I will have to say goodbye to my FI next weekend, but because I am the one going to school.   It really, really sucks!  but like you said we will be married next summer so we can get through it )

AFM (As For Me)-  I had an awful weekend. I was up at the hospital with my Gramma all weekend and she passed away yesterday afternoon.  It was the hardest thing I've ever gone through.  Losing two grandmothers in one week makes for a pretty rotten week.  But at least I know that they aren't suffering anymore and I got to see them both before they passed.  They are with the Lord and I am thankful for that

Hugs to Shawna and Missy.  I'm sorry you lost your other grandmother, Shawna.  That's crazy to lose both within a week, and I can only imagine how that feels.  Missy - I keep praying that something goes your way!  I know you're having a hard time right now, and I know things will turn around!  But for now, go get yourself checked out!

Thanks Docta, it's hard.  but I have so many amazing friends and family  members around me that it makes it easier.  Does it feel weird to be done with school, or has it sunk in yet?

Hi Ladies, I creep on the Catholic board and I thought I would say hello!

This week is the last week that I will be working full time at my internship. Next week I will start my last semester at college and be working part time. I am ready for school to be over...but then on the other hand not ready to work 40+ work weeks forever.

My FI is in the US Navy and we have been REALLY long distance for over a year. (Kinda long distance 6 months prior to that) It has been hard and i have wanted to give up...but I trust that one day we will be together again. Sadly it probably won't even been after we get married. He will be leaving on a 8 month deployment a month after we get married, and being totally alone, 12 hours from our families just isn't going to happen. But I know that it will all work out, so I try not to worry.

BUT! This weekend I am flying out to see him before school starts. He has come back a couple of times this summer to help plan the wedding, but this time I am going out to see him for some R&R before school starts.

I'm really sorry you guys have to go through that. I dated a marine for 4 years and went through two deployments so I know it is really hard.. You two will get through it and it will be so worth it!  Hang in there!

It definitely puts it in perspective when I hear about people who are REALLY long distance and go months without seeing each other.  I'm not sure I'm strong enough to handle that, so I have mad respect for you, Amanda! 

Shawna -- how far away will you be?  I'm lucky becausee it's only 2 hours, so it's a very doable weekend commute.  I just will miss having him around all the time.  It's good to have support from someone who's going through it at the same time

Amanda--welcome to the board!

My weekend was ok... glad DH is done with his overnight shifts and we can get back to normal living. This evening the priest who did our marriage prep for us is coming over for dessert and a house blessing for our new house   I'm planning an amazing dessert, if it turns out like I'm hoping *fingers crossed*  So it should be a nice evening :-)

Resa77-  We are about an hour and a half from each other, but I have two jobs while I go to school so I only get to see him about every other weekend.  But at least we know we aren't the only ones going through it! )  What is your FI going to school for?

He's finishing up his undergrad degree in sociology with a minor in philosophy.  He's taken a few extra years to finish it, but at least he's finishing lol.  He'd like to go to law school a year or so after the wedding, which is fully support, assuming we are financially able to swing the one income thing.  We're about 2 hours apart, so similar to you.  He's trying to get a part-time job, so I'm just hoping we'll still be able to visit each other on weekends!

Oh, and I'm SO sorry about your losses, Shawna.

Thanks for the welcome!  The long distance normally isn't bad. You just get used to it...I forgot what it is like to have a normal relationship... haha.

 You really have to work on your communication, when we weren't long distance and we got in an argument (which wasn't often) a hug and a kiss normally broke the tention and after a few apologies all was resolved.  You get into an arguement over the phone and you have to communicate to resolve the issue, you can't just hug and sweep it under the rug.

Which has actually helped our relationship a lot.

Our priest just got back to me about dinner this week... I was really sweating that one, I emailed him more than a week ago!
