s/o Priest Invitation

....I was just thinking, do you have to send your priest an actual invitation?

We are having a very small wedding. ab 20 ppl. including kids. Only parents & siblings. So its the church, and then lunch after. I informally told our priest that he's welcome to come, but do I have to send him an invite also?

TIA

I think it's proper etiquette to send them an actual invitation.

Yes, we sent our priest an invite. In your case, I would go ahead and send him one. He may or may not be able to attend the reception, but at least he knows he is welcome to if he can.

Yes, we sent our priests invitation.  It's the correct thing to do from an etiquette point-of-view, as we were inviting them to be guests at the reception.

yes, it is proper etiquette for him to receive the same invite as others (ditto for the RD too)

Yes! Especially if you want to keep tabs on your reception guest count. What if you didn't include him in the final count to the caterer and then he came to dinner? Awkward!!
