Marriage Prep Online?

Our pre-cana program includes a mandatory seminar.  FI lives a little over an hour away, and may be moving out of state for a job come August.  Unfortunately, most of the seminars go out of session for the summer and will be starting back up again in September.  Those that are in session span multiple weeks, and with gas prices what they are, it would just get too expensive.

We have the option of doing the course online through Catholic Marriage Preparation, Inc (catholicmarriagepreponline.com).  I was wondering if anyone had gone the online route or knows someone who had?  It seems like it could either be a really fantastic program or a really lousy one.

We just came back from our retreat, part of pre-cana, and there was a couple who had thought of doing it online but chose the retreat instead. They said there were quite a few topics that contrasted with ideas and teachings from the church.

To be honest, I would try really hard to do the weekend together.
My fi and I have been together for 11 years, and our retreat really helped us "reconnect". Also, being with the other couples who had the same goals really helped.

Assuming you're talking about Engaged Encounter, that is not listed as one of our approved programs.  We would love to go on that retreat, and we're talking about going the next time our church hosts one, but we'd still need to attend a separate seminar on top of that weekend.

ETA: I totally realized that the following didn't show up in my post: I'm glad you had such a great time at the Engagement Encounter!

We did both the online Catholic marriage prep plus Engaged Encounters.  Our priest wanted us to do the online one and then everyone praised the Engaged Encounters so that is why we decided to do both.
My fiance and I lived two hours away from eachother.  So when we did the online program I printed our readings for that week.  We read it together, talked about it, and answered the quetions together when we saw eachother.  Then I would go back and type our answers to send them in.  Since my fiance hates computers I was the one to do all the computer work.  Some of the readings we had to do had a lot of pages to print and took a long time to do.  But we would read one night and do half the questions and then the other questions the next night if we had to.
    That is what we did.
One good thing about the online class is that you can do the worksheets when you have time and at your own pace.  You have (I think) 3 months to complete the course.  We finished way before that.  If you two are not going to have time to be together then you can read it separatly and talk on the phone about the questions. It is however you want to do it.
I have nothing bad to say about the online course. For a couple that has a long distance relationship I think the online program is good, but we learned a lot from having an experience together.
    Hope this helps.
