Setting a Date

So our pastor has submitted the papers for the lack of form.  We want to set the date so that we can start our Precanna classes.  The pastor has said that everything will go through do you think it would be wrong to email to find out when we can start things.

Re: Setting a Date

  • Can you not do your precana without setting a date?

The only thing I would say is, don't put any deposits down until you are completely sure that everything is in order.  We have seen so many brides who either lose money or just decide to get married outside of proper form because they put down deposits without clearing with their church first.

  • We also have that problem that the churches in our area are possiblly closing and will not know til may which ones are closing and which are remaining open so we are in the deliemia of just not getting married in the church just want to try the church root first.
  • I don't understand -- what exactly is the "lack of form" for?

Do not go outside the church's parameters...this is a very serious problem with serious consequences.

<div>I think you're just going to have to be patient in order to do this correctly.  There are many women on this forum who have had to wait a long for annulments to be finalized before they could begin planning, but I think they would all tell you they're much happier having waited.</div>

  • I think you should wait till May. No sense in trying to start the process and then have to re-do everything.

You can always get married in another Catholic Church, if your local parish shuts down....
