Processional Song

I know the typical "Wedding March" is not allowed in the Catholic ceremony...so what did you have or are you planning to have for your entrance song?

a friend of mine had someone playing piano of coldplay at hers, but from what i understand such things are not typically allowed at catholic churches....though i like the idea

Well, it depends on the church.  My church allowed the use of the Bridal March, but they didn't encourage it.

We used Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring for the WP and Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke for the bridal procession.

I had the Bridal Chorus ("Here comes the bride") and Mendelssohn's Wedding March (recessional) at mine.  I had Canon in D for the wedding party processional.

My priest and organist had no restrictions on the music.

I know a lot of people do Canon in D or Trumpet Voluntary for processional.

I absolutely love Pachelbel's Canon in D, so I think that might be the entrance song, but I'll have to check with my groom and see what he thinks...

I have some hand's down favorite hymns that I want to include - like "The Prayer of St. Francis."

I also know I want to have a cantor...I'm hoping that one of my fellow cantors will be willing to sing...

Thanks, Linda!  I used weebly.com.  A lot of people on here use weebly for bios.  It's much easier than trying to use TheKnot bio.  You really don't have to be tech savvy at all.

We can use almost anything we want as long as its played on the piano and not on a cd so we are looking at using here, there and everywhere by the beatles.

We had traditional irish musicians play at our ceremony, a fiddler and guitarist.  We picked out a bunch of traditional tunes for the prelude, many of which had special meaning to us.   The links below are what I sent to our music director (who ended up moving out of state the week before our wedding- that was fun!)

My fiance and I are still deciding... but our parish gave us the following lists to choose from.  We could probably select other music as long as it is sacred in nature and the organist is familiar with the piece...

The organist played several classical pieces as a prelude (I can't remember their names). 

We had a hymn as our processional:  O, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus.  It was beautiful.  We also considered O God, Beyond All Praising.  Both sound lovely with or without vocals, IMO.
