Wedding song ideas - Catholic wedding

We are getting married next October and my niece is going to be singing a song while me and my fiance pray to the Blessed Mary. Any ideas as to what is appropriate to sing? She already knows Ava Maria but I was wondering what else could be sung?

    Marian songs:

--Holy is His Name by John Michael Talbot

    --Immaculate Mary

--Ave Maria (several versions...Schubert is the most common, but there's also the Bach/Gounound and many others)

    --On this day

    --Hail Mary Gentle Woman

--Servant song is not explicitly marian, but the last verse says "singing your praise like mary" and "let it be done unto me" (which could be sung without the other verses).

--Be with us Mary -     Pixler   http://www.spiritandsong.com/compositions/77797

-Hail Holy Queen-- the traditional hymn

Hail Holy Queen by Danielle Rose. Its the actual Hail holy queen prayer put to music.

Franz Biebl's arrangement of Ave Maria is amazing... you would need a small ensemble of singers, though.

I'll be doing the Gregorian chant version of Regina Coeli or something similar!  My wedding falls during Easter Season :)

This is a very "old school" song...and in many parishes it has been liturgically approved....it is a very simple song from the play, "West Side Story".....

    One Hand, One Heart

Make of our hands one hand,
Make of our hearts one heart,
Make of our vows one last vow:
Only death will part us now.

Make of our lives one life,
    Day after day, one life.

Now it begins, now we start
    One hand, one heart;
Even death won't part us now.

Make of our lives one life,
    Day after day, one life.
Now it begins, now we start
    One hand, one heart,
Even death won't part us now.

Because your niece is singing, she could change the pronouns to "their", "they", and "them"......

    I love the Salve Regina!
...not the Sister Act version, though! :)

We had the Latin plainchant of Salve Regina.  Simple and beautiful!

I have always loved Hail Mary, Gentle Woman.

Huh, that would actually be excellent at my wedding as a tribute to my mother.

I love Hail Mary, Gentle Woman...I'm thinking about using that at our wedding, too. It is my favorite Blessed Mother song.

As much as I love Ave Maria, I'm always pro other Marian songs at wedings. John Michael Talbot's Holy is His Name is one of my favorites. I also sang (with a small ensemble) a plainchant version of Regina Coeli at a wedding last June, and that was lovely as well.

We were going to use "Holy is Your Name" by David Haas (tune of Go Lassie, Go)... but my mom really wanted the Ave Maria and it was her only request for the entire process (a friend sang it, and I forget what version she did).

Thank you so much for that idea. We both love the West Side Story and that would work really well for us. I knew that I had come to the right place to get some great song ideas.

    Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some very good song ideas. I am going to look through them and listen to a few and hope to find the perfect song for us. Congratulations to everyone.

    Merry Christmas!
