Bridal Processional

I have been researching music like crazy and cannot find a song to walk to down the aisle! My church and priest are very liberal with music...as Monsignor put it, "Do whatever you want with your music, just please don't come down the aisle to Billy Idol's White Wedding" :)...so my choices are pretty unlimited. I love Pachebel Canon in D, but so does every other bride I've ever seen. Do any of you lovely ladies have music suggestions for the bridal processional that's just as beautiful as Pachebel, but not quite so overdone? We're having a violinist and pianist, if this helps. Thanks in advance!

We are doing, both, Canon in D and then Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach

    Good Luck!

Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach)
    Ave Maria (Bach/Gounod)
    Clair de Lune (Debussy)
Air on the G String (Bach) - I know, I know, but it's a beautiful piece
Adagio Cantabile from Sonata No. 8 (Beethoven)
    Laudate Dominum (Mozart)
Gabriel's Oboe (Ennio Morricone, theme from The Mission)
    Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)

You could also ask your musicians to improvise a 'new' canon - use the same chords, but have the violinist improvise a pretty melody.

    Hope this helps!

You are SO lucky to have a liberal music selection. Look up "Three Flights Up" by Yellowcard. They are actually an alternative band (with a violin), but this particular song is just a really beautiful violin/piano song that is completely instrumental. I really wanted to use this for my processional, but my church claims that they can't do recorded music (seccular or not). I might still ask our pianist to play this, but it won't be as nice....but just give it a listen.

Count your blessings that you have a liberal music director type of person. I wish we did.

Thanks so much guys! I love Yellowcard, but I've never heard that song before! It's BEAUTIFUL!  I think it might just be a winner :)

I am using Cannon in D for the wedding party, for my procession I am using Trumpet Voluntary (by Clarke), my FH picked it because he said it sounded like something a Queen would use to make an entrance.
