First Creighton Meeting

I had the introductory meeting tonight. It was great. I was the only person there, but since I'm in the medical field it was probably better because we could breeze through things I already understood. The teacher said my super long cycles will be easier to figure out than with symptothermal and we wouldn't have to abstain so much. With the whole abstain for the first cycle thing, I hope it's not like my last one that was 62 days. Ugh. Unfortunately, DH is out of town for work and couldn't attend. Hopefully with the information packet and my previous knowledge he'll get up to speed. Thanks for all the info ladies!

I believe the abstaining rule is the first month or first cycle, whichever is shorter. check on that.

Just curious... Why did the instructor say that Creighton method is easier at figuring out super long cycles than Sympto-Thermal?

We learned Sympto-Thermal method at my church, and my cycles are pretty irregular (I've only been charting for 5 months and they're all over the place). I'm just wondering why Creighton is better for that?

Creighton method learns the different kind of "dormant" cm caused by various health conditions. It is much more detailed in order to identify what is really fertile and what isn't, and doctors can diagnose and many times fix the problem. Longer cycles are many times caused by PCOS- they see these symptoms charted in creighton to confirm (along with blood sugar tests) so they can treat well. Creighton is attached with NAPRO technology which aids in treating fertility issues.

My doc can look at a chart and figure that a person needs more zinc, magnesium, progesterone, etc.

Just checked on the abstinence. It IS whichever is shorter. Honestly, though, if I don't see fertile CM by the one month mark and have my instructor check my chart, I probably will extend it for the whole cycle. I don't think I would feel confident enough. And with the way my cycle is running, I probably won't see it by 30 days. But of course, I'll talk to the instructor at the next meeting.

And everything agapecarrie said is right about the CM. The temperature was a confounding variable for me, basically, and was completely skewing the whole picture.

The point of abstaining is to make sure you can tell the difference between cm and seminal fluid.

I'm afraid of not being able to tell the difference between fertile and infertile CM.

We are using NFP. Because my cycles are so irregular and I have been charting for over a year now it was natural to continue to uses this method. I to was wondering why you chose the Creighton method.
