New! HELP!

Well, I never thought I'd be here on this board ever again.  Quick history, I was engaged last year and planned to be married this past October when early this year, my fiance pulled the rug out from under me and cancelled everything and pretty much tossed me aside like trash.  Anyway, I met a wonderful man in April this year and two weeks ago he totally surprised me by proposing! YAY! :)  We are planning a March/April 2010 wedding.  Yes, I know.  Spring.  2010.  A few months away.  You can imagine how stressed I am feeling (at the same time totally overjoyed!!!).  We're planning on getting married at my church (crosspoint UMC in Harrisburg under David Biser, my friend).  We haven't looked at reception venues yet ,and probably wont start until after the holidays, but I have made contact at a few places.  I am interested in the Valencia Ballroom in York, The Antique Auto Museum in Hershey, and the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg (does anyone have any other must see places I should look into?).  I am starting to look for wedding gowns tonight and every place I've called said that they can help me get a dress that quickly (whew!).  Our wedding colors are going to be Tiffany Blue and Fuchsia, a combination of my favorite color and his.  We are going to honeymoon at Disney World since I have free annual passes and free airfare (thanks to my ex).

I have contacted DJ Freeze and his calendar is open (WOW). Does anyone else have any vendor ideas or a basic guideline of places I should talk to or start booking with right away?  I've also contacted Solas photography...their prices seem fantastic.

Anyway, thanks for the help ladies!  I look forward to getting to chat with you guys even if only for a few short months before I am married to the love of my life! :)

Thanks!
Toni and Josiah

I can speak for Solas, and so can some other girls. I met them both and they are very nice, I met with Sean to sign our contract. I thought Freeze was a little pricey and if you think so also than maybe look into Complete Music and Video in Lancaster. They won over my FI and the DJ's are very nice and very professional. Sorry I can't really help with any venues.

    Well congrats!!! And good luck!

Have you thought about a florist yet?

We looked at the Antique Auto Museum (we are both car lovers), however, I didn't like the idea of going up/down 3 flights to go between the ceremony (which doesn't deal with your situation), cocktail hour, and the reception.  It is definetly a different location though.

    Good luck!

We're having our reception at the Yorktowne in York - its right down the street from the Valencia. They had great options, and were really willing to work with us on price. It ended up being a fabulous deal.

Like brownhenry, we are also going with complete music and video - just getting the DJ though, no video. Prices were great, and they also worked with us. Plus, you get a deal if you are at the Yorktowne because they are a preferred vendor.

    Good Luck!

The Antique Automobile Musem is a great place.  I went to a work function there and remember thinking that it would be a really cool place for a reception.  I wanted an outside wedding though so we didn't look into it.

As for a dress, I got my dress at Tara's Bridal in Camp Hill.  They're fantastic, and all their dresses are off the rack, so you don't have to worry about ordering one, and they can definitely do the alterations before spring.  The only thing I would suggest looking into right away is bridesmaid dresses. They can take a few months to get in sometimes.

But it sounds like you have things pretty much under control.  Good luck!

I know that a lot of people have already said it... but I recommend Solas... hands down.  They are fantastic.  I worked with Heidi for our engagement pictures, and I love her.  Good luck with everything.  I have only booked my photographer, so that's all I can help with.  But congrats :-)

How are their dress prices compared to David's Bridal and others?
