priest stipend/gift

Hello all, what are most of you giving your priest for a stipend/gift? My parish did not give me any guidlines on this. I don't know our priest very well so don't really have gift ideas and was leaning towards cash-our original presider backed out two weeks ago due to a trip. Thanks very much for your help!

priests/deacons must be given a stipend, even if small, and even if you include a gift.

The priest who said the nuptial mass refused a gift and the church required no fee.  The only condition was that the church's organist/solist had to be paid, used or not.

The deacon who performed the wedding, was the bride's uncle.  They gave him a silver picture frame with their wedding photo in it.  This was really what he wanted, he collects photos of all of the relative's weddings he's performed.

There were two other priests on the altar but they were really social friends of FOB and had no part of the wedding = no gift.

ETA: The soloist was $250 and surprisingly very good.  She worked with the trumpeter and flutist for the whole ceremony.  It was a very small church on Cape  Cod.

haha, Maria Shriver and old Arnold were married in this church.  M thought that was cool at the time.  Not so much now ;)

I think we'll be giving him a $100 check (whether he wants it or not). From there he may do with it as he likes.

we gave him $100 on top of the fee of $100.  he didnt charge us at all for pre-cana so we had no qualms with giving him $200.

Our pianist, cantor, and priest each get $150 (the priest's stipend is optional, but we are definitely doing it!).
