Changing name/SS office

Hi, I live in Chicago and we just got married.  I can pick up the marriage certificate on Friday and I want to change my name asap.  I read that I should go to the Social Security office first before the DMV.. does it matter??

How many copies of my certificate do I need? Does the SS office keep the copy I bring?  Does the DMV?  (do they keep them, or photocopy them and give them back to me?)

    Only one copy.  I bought two though because it was cheaper when buying additional copies. 

    I went on a Tuesday morning and finished everything in time to meet up with my mil for lunch.  Friday will be a pain in the but at the dmv, especially if you are going to the one in the Thompson Center.
