Ring Bearer Pooch?

So, just an idea we've been thinking about:  (semi-long-ish)

We don't really have anyone to be a ring bearer.  No kids in the family, except my 11 year old junior bridesmaid lol.  Anyway, we were either thinking of just not having one, or using our dog.

We have a cat and a dog, who are pretty much our kids...our boys! (you can take a look at my pictures in the profile if you want to see them!)  Obviously, my kitty cat couldn't take part in it />^..^< ...too scaredy!  But Buddy is a Golden Retriever who will be 8 1/2 yrs old at the time of our wedding.  He is extremely well behaved and friendly.  Dogs are allowed at the venue.

I was thinking of getting him a "tuxedo collar" and putting the ring pillow like on the back of his neck/upper back area (not with the real rings, of course lol).  I'm not sure who would walk him up, or if my future husband would call him up the aisle  (he will come, but I'm not sure if he'd stop to sniff everyone on the way! lol)

So then I wasn't sure if then we'll just let him roam the reception or take him back to the hotel after the pictures after the ceremony.

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the idea, thanks!!

That sounds so cute!  My only fear with that is that dogs can be unpredictable.  I would be afraid of my pup wanting to go to the bathroom halfway down the aisle!

I think it's a great idea and actually considered it myself. Maybe you could hire a teenager dog walker etc. to be responsible for him. eg. getting him to the ceremony, preparing him to walk,  helping with pictures,  and getting him to his 'lodging' afterwards.
    Have fun!

That sounds cute! BUT if you're asking for opinions...don't feel like you need to force the ring bearer issue. I personally don't understand why brides feel the need to fill every cliche spot in a wedding. As much as I adore my babies (dogs), I wouldn't put them through a wedding. I especially wouldn't put one of my guests in charge of one of my dogs at my wedding. If you don't have a ring bearer, then don't have a ring bearer. No one will judge you for it :)

I think it's a cute idea, but you know your dog the best.  If I would use your dog, make sure you have somewhere for it to go after it walks down the aisle... and someone to take him home once the ceremony is over!
