Holiday Inn New Cumberland, PA

Anyone getting married here, or been to a wedding here?  I went to a food tasting at this place because we were talking about having our reception here, and it was horrible!  I am seriously having second thoughts.  The food was good, but the service was terrible.  We didn't even have water on the tables-had to buy all of our drinks.  No coffee...and they only had a few menu items on their buffet for us to try.  Please let me know what you think of this place!!!!

Wow!! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt that way at that show! We thought that was going to be our location, but were so turned off by the service. When we did ask for water the waitress seemed like it was a bother and it took forever to get. We also looked at Colonial Country Club which was very nice but a little out of our budget. We went to Park Inn, which is the old Holiday Inn West and were VERY impressed. Prices are about the same as New Cumberland, but their outdoor area is much prettier than New Cumberland. We're leaning toward Park Inn, but want to look at the Yorktowne in York. We hear it is historic and nice. Any other ideas? Yorktowne does not not have an outdoor ceremony area, which we really want.

October-sounds like you have some time to keep looking.  Unfortunately, we are already locked in with the New Cumberland.  My parents kept talking it up.  They went to a wedding there a few years ago and loved it.  Hopefully, it will turn out better than their food tasting.  Glad to hear (unfortunately) that you had the same impression we did.

We do have a lot of time to keep looking, I'm starting to think too much time! I think I would let them know I was not impressed with the service at that show, so they know that is a concern. I'm sure it will all work out for you. Good luck!

We stayed very late that night so that we could give some feedback to Vanessa.  She assured us that service would not be like this at the wedding-we shall see!  Hopefully, not.  But, I have talked to someone who had a birthday party at their ballroom last year and she was so excited that we were getting married there.  So, maybe it was just an understaffed evening and we should hold it against them.
Good luck with your wedding planning :)  By the way, are you the bride I met at Negly park on Sunday?

My dad & stepmom had their reception there a few summers ago.  It was in the open air/courtyard area just next to the room where the pool is (making sense?). I had a ton of fun during their reception and didn't notice any rude behavior from the staff.

This past winter, I planned my company's holiday party there in one of the ballrooms.  I think it was Vanessa that helped me too and she was very accomodating.  The day we met and she showed me the room, the chef was nearby so she introduced me (he also happened to be her brother).  Everyone at the party had a great time and loved the food, we just did appetizers though.  I hope you have a great experience during your reception there!!
