Recipe Thursday!

What are you looking for??  What have you made & would like to share??

Re: Recipe Thursday!

  • I am very interested in freezing homemade meals as an alternative to buying frozen dinners.  Does anyone do this and have good recipes that freeze well?? Also, what kind of containers do you use for freezing, if any? Thanks!!

  • yes, we freeze things all the time!! We just use tupperwares and sometimes put them in freezer bags.

All types of chilis freeze really well, along with thick soups and stews. So do crockpot dinners with a sauce base. I have a whole crockpot page on my pinterest of ideas that you might like.  We also make big batches of Indian meals and freeze them (except that the rice freezes separately).  We even froze some stuffed peppers and those miraculously came out pretty decent.

It really is great to have frozen dinners that you made home-made that you can re-heat. We got home from a trip at like 11pm and hadn't eaten, had no groceries, and didn't want to leave the apartment, so we defrosted some chili that we had frozen and it tasted fresh and yummy!

That sounds amazing butterfly! That happens to us often and then FI gets really grumpy. Having homemade meals frozen sounds genius. I keep seeing it on pinterest but haven't seen much point in doing it. Now I get it lol.
  • Nati it really is genius!!

We like to plan our meals and will never get up and be like "hey, let's defrost some frozen meals for dinner tonight!" It's the times that you havent planned and are hungry and don't know what to do that it comes in REALLY handy. MUCH better than a gross sodium filled frozen dinner, and cheaper than carryout!

I completely agree! Will propose this to FI!
  • Thanks so much butterfly!! I'm definitely going to try the chili! I still have to use my crockpot (received it at the shower but haven't taken it out of the box yet). I think chili may be the first thing I make in it!!
