CAKE!

Where did you go for your cake?

Our reception location has a 'contract' with Rebecca's Heavenly Goodies in Lititz. They recently underwent an ownership change so the customer service should no longer be an issue. We are looking at approx $3 per person built into our meal price with her as the baker.
Looking for some other options though, hopefully around the same price point.

Re: CAKE!

  • I used Lancaster Cupcakes (she also makes full sized cake) and it was AMAZING. The most delicious cupcakes I ever had, and they started at $2.50/each. Not sure what her per slice price is for cake.

We also did a tasting at Flour Child in Columbia, her prices were about $3 if I recall correctly. The cake/icing were really good, but Lancaster Cupcake was better. BUT Flour Child is more experienced making regular cakes than Lancaster Cupcake, so they might be better for a regular cake.

  • I always recommend Rosie's Creative Cakes and Bella Manse.  Wendy, the new owner of Rebecca's should be def given her chance, however!  She may surprise you!  ;)

The gal at Flour Child does a nice decorating job, but I am not impressed with the taste of her cakes.
  • I am also using Lancaster Cupcakes and they are INCREDIBLE! The owner is so nice and willing to work with what you want. We have ordered their cupcakes for several other occasions and tried maybe 10-12 flavors at this point. Every time the quality was the same. And again, the prices are fantastic. Rosie's and Bella Manse had great customer service but the lowest price point was still almost $5 pp.
  • We are using Sprinkles Specialties in York. Rashida Kennedy is the owner and her cake and icing is the best around! Our wedding is in Harrisburg and she is driving the distance to deliver. I tried cake at all the big names in the Harrisburg area and no one even compared. She is right at your price point too...$3.00 a slice. She brings the cake to you for a tasting which is nice...she brought sooo many flavors to try and she even brought seperate containers of the types of icing she has which made it easier than trying to decide which icing we liked when it is mixed with cake and filling.

We are definitely meeting with Wendy, but I'm a girl who likes options. I just wasn't real impressed with what seemed to me like limited options for cake, filling and icings. Then again, what do I know? LOL.
