July 2012 Weddings

I'm tired of spending money... (vent)

on this wedding. Everything that needs to be planned is done so now we are spending money every other day paying things off. I will be so happy when I can spend money on nonwedding related items again.

Update on programs = I decided to make wedding program scrolls. I'm going to Michael's, buying really nice paper, print them myself, roll it up, put a ribbon on it and call it a day!

First major purchase after the wedding is a new car. YAY!!! What is everyone buying for themselves after the wedding?

  • I just can't wait to be able to start saving my money again.  We won't be making any big purchases with our gift money.  We are putting everything into savings.  We are hoping to put our house up for sale in another 2-3 years so we want to have a very big chunk of money to put down on our 2nd house so we can buy our dream house.

The only thing we are going to do is pay down some of our credit cards but that won't be a lot of money.

  • I'm not even paying for my wedding and I'm sick of the money that's being spent! I feel like every other week I'm reminding my parents that some new bill is due and I feel bad. We're buying a house (closing at the end of June) so I think that will be where a lot of my money is going to go after the wedding.

  • We're not spending another dime after the wedding for as long as we possibly can.

The following summer we have to re-build our deck and I'm hoping we'll have enough saved for a pool, too.

  • I plan on remodeling our kitchen and buying a new dining set.  Our house needs some improvements too so that's where our post-wedding money will go. I'm looking forward to not having the spend money on the wedding too! My parents are taking care of all of the big costs, but I'm paying all of small things (favors, guestbook, programs, etc..) and it adds up quickly.
  • We would like to build a new deck and add some stones around our house. Start saving for a baby too!!

That is great! Yes, my new car will be an SUV for the baby we are planning. I don't want to deal with strollers, car seats, etc in my small car.

  • I'm looking forward to having more cash available for traveling. We live in Europe and we're not taking advantage of it. I thought when I first moved here that I'd be visiting a new city in Europe about each month, but it just hasn't been happening, mostly due to money.

  • Omg, I could not agree more with this post.  This wedding has been financially consuming.  My first "purchase" after the wedding, well, hopefully it will be paying off my student loan debt...and starting fresh.

  • I'm paying for grad school and then my 6th year degree so that's where our money will go ) :

What I'm most excited about is being able to go out for dinner and buy myself clothes without feeling guilty. I'm fine with staying in our condo, not going on major vacations, keeping my crappy car, etc I just want some fun spending money!

  • I feel ya. I want to do stuff other then WR but every penny seems to be used up.

Our big purchase after the wedding is getting me a new car. My car runs and its fine but its 14 yrs old. I got it from my Great Gma when she passed. Its little things that are not cutting it anymore. Drivers window doesnt roll down, paint is starting to chip, not enough room for a family of 4 and we are talking about making us a family of 5 in a couple years. Its a Nissan Sentra. We want to get a Suv cross over of some time.

  • I totally agree!  I'm tired of having to go to Michael's and JoAnn fabric for some random odd or end practically every week too!  LOL  Luckily the craft stores are close to my house!

After the wedding FI and I are getting a new entry door put into our townhouse!  We need, because our door is warped and you have to slam it shut... I hate it and am actually very excitied at the thought of getting a new one!    Haha... the joys of home ownership!

  • We were just going through our finances last nigth and I'm so glad this wedding is almost here.  We are getting drained financially at the moment between the wedding and house. We are putting most of the money in savings and maybe doing some projects around the house.  Our front driveway and yard/steps to our house need to be redone.  I definitely want them done before we bring any children into the picture which will be in another year or two.

  • I completely agree with you! My parents are paying for the majority of the wedding, with FI and I responsible for small odds and ends and I am still so sick of how much money has been spent. I feel bad my parents are paying so much and I really just want to go on a little shopping spree for cute summer clothes rather than paying for bridesmaid gifts and marriage licenses and swarovski crystals to glue on things! I'm looking forward to buying something for myself! And also to pay into savings again! We are planning on buying a house in the next couple months, so sadly after the wedding, I'm sure all of our extra money will be going towards the house :-(

  • I'm sick of spending money too! It feels like everyone has their hand out these days. After the wedding we are going to save for a while. Next spring we will start finishing our basement and other home improvements.
