RSVP cards and misc info

We ended up going with my designer friend to make us some custom invitation sets.  I am asking her to stay under 4 hours which will keep us under budget with printing too.

OK - I'm assuming it's not too early time wise to get this rolling.  I'd like to have everything in hand by the week of May 1st.

However, I don't know how to word the RSVP yet.  I am having a welcome dinner on Friday night, and then a Sunday activity - I haven't worked out all the logistics yet with the rafting however.

If I had my act together I'd add something fun on the RSVP like:  "The fun starts early - will you join us?"
___ Friday dinner
___ Sunday rafting

Since I don't 100% know if my rafting idea will work, should I put the RSVP for those activities on the wedding website?  That way I buy myself at least 3.5 more months to get that figured out.  It'll be figured out (hopefully) by the time the invitations are mailed, but not by the time I need to tell my designer what I want them to say.

So if I go with the website RSVP method, how do I word it on the invites that there is additional events to RSVP to?

Re: RSVP cards and misc info

  • I am no help, but I'm going to be watching this thread! I have a very similar situation.

I also need people to RSVP to our second reception that will be a month later, but we are inviting everyone to everything, so I want to mention it in our invite/RSVP card so they know. I don't want people trying to travel 900+ miles because they are afraid of missing out, when they can just go to our second reception!

I understand the pressure to get it figured out! Hopefully these ladies have some advice :)

Are both receptions going to be similar (fancy, casual, etc)?
    Are both locations booked?
  • gina you could always send a separate invitation for the friday dinner and/or the rafting??? obviously our situation is different because we are not inviting our entire guest list to friday or sunday, but we will be sending separate invitations for the rehearsal dinner and separate invitations for sunday brunch.
  • If your going to put the events on your website write something alone the lines of "Please refer to our website at: www.XYZ.com for additional events that your welcome to attend  as part of our celebration"

Maybe I'll create small insert with that message so they can keep the webiste on hand, although they should have it from the STD.  If I had all my events lined up I'd just put in on the RSVP, but looks like I won't be ready.

I made up business cards that said something like this for our website for our guests. It cost me less than $5 to print them myself at home.

[QUOTE]It might be a bit early to ask about the fun activities, unless you need head counts on those around the same time as you need the wedding RSVPs. The website will be good for that, and the idea of an insert with "BTW, more infos, guys!" should do. Something I've seen on the Etiquette board: unless you're planning on paying for these activites yourselves, you're not supposed to formally ask people to RSVP. (If you are paying, then NM :P )

Yep, we're going to host it all.

I will need a headcount around the RSVP time (one month out from wedding).

BUT since the RSVPs are going to be deisnged in the near future (like this month), I am not ready to actually say what we're doing on Sunday for it to be printed on an RSVP.  The Friday pizza party is surely a-go. If I provide an insert and print it at my own pace I hope I can get the activity figure out by the time the invites go out, just not by the time the designer makes the invites.
