wedding cake

Any suggestions for a great cake baker? We have had several tastings already but maybe want to try a more local, home based baker. Would love to find a great tasting cake at a reasonable price. We are looking at a cake (s) to feed 350.

We used Flying Buttercream and she did an amazing job. Our cake tasted delicious and looked exactly like I had anticipated and her pricing is fantastic. She works out of her home and is really easy to work with, but she is a stay at home mom and its best to get in touch with her via e-mail.

    Here is our cake:

Also keep in mind, that it may be more cost effective to just do a 3 or 4 tiered cake and then have sheet cakes in the back as well to serve all your guests.

That is a picture of our actual cake and it was yummy. I had been looking forever for a cake design the I loved and found that baby in TK magazine and knew it would be perfect for our wedding.

    Who's making your cake?

I second Jeana's Great Cakes! Her cakes both look and taste amazing! And she is one of the nicest people you will work with.

We used Piece of Cake on the west side and loved it. We liked it so much, we actually bought a small cake after the wedding for us to enjoy because our guests gobbled ours up at the reception. Great cake and extremely affordable.

If you are looking for a great neighborhood place, North College Hill bakery is fabulous. I think they taste the best in town and prices were very reasonable.

Amy Gilmore from Cakertainment! She does cakes on the side and she does an AMAZING job! Her prices are extremely affordable too. We also have about 350 guests and couldn't afford a $800-$900 wedding cake.

    Her website is www.cakertainment.com

    Good luck!

I second marilyn's cakes! I used her for my June 09 wedding and the cake was amazing! Not to mention back then it was only $1.75/slice. We ate the top tier a month after our wedding because we barely got any that night and didn't want to wait a year and it was amazing!!

just an FYI when your getting your cake ask where the person trained at. Im not knocking people who do cakes out of there house but there is a reason there are schools and training for such things. If someone is only charging $1 a slice there must be a reason why. (boxed cake mix- which anyone can do) Just be leary of someone who not only undercuts the entire wedding cake industry, but has animals in their home and is baking your cake. Also food allergens are not something to joke about, leave those to the professionals.
