Recommend Travel Agents? (Cincinnati Area)

My fiance and I are wanting to go to Rome for our honeymoon. We have never traveled internationally before. Do you think a travel agent is worth it? Are there any recommended Travel Agents in Cincinnati? I just recently contacted Victoria Travel and they seem to have great reviews....

I felt the same way and had the same doubts, but our travel coordinator at work recommended one.  She suggested Melissa Rutter at "Time to Pack Vacations."  Melissa has turned out to be a true blessing.  She booked our honeymoon in St. Lucia, including airfare and offered to help me book rooms for guests, etc. I highly recommend this agent.

    Her contact info is:

    Good luck and have fun!

Do you belong to triple a? We used their travel agent for our trip to Vegas last year.

LOVE her! after going through a few other places (including AAA) she made me very happy because she was willing to work within our budget, instead of trying to get us to overspend. also, she went a step further and told us what to splurge on and where to save $$ for our cruise. most importantly (to me), she works from home so you can call her any time. my fiance and i have weird schedules, so it was a great plus to be able to call her at 8pm.

I wouldn't use a travel agent unless you are going somewhere really odd.  It's pretty easy to book tix to Rome on Orbitz or other travel site and find places to stay, etc.  Not worth the cost of having someone do it for you and they are probably going to recommend 'standard' and more expensive places.  I highly recommend the boards on Trip Advisor to find hotels, advice, etc.  If you are only going to be in Rome, you might consider finding an apartment rental for a week. I did it in Paris and you can really save by eating breakfast and occasionally lunch at home - plus you get to live like a local and shop at the grocery stores (which i think is one of the fun parts of going to another country) :) You could also easily find used travel books/map online (you'll need a good map of Rome!  When i was there - granted it was 13 years ago - the subway workers were on strike so we had to walk everywhere).
My other advice is to get a Capital One credit card. They are the only card that doesn't charge extra fees for charges abroad.
One thing to think about : are you going on your honeymoon right away?  We were exhausted after our wedding and wanted to go somewhere relaxing.  There are lots of beautiful parts of Italy that you might want to consider - of course, a tourist destination is fun too...
My other advice is to get your passports ASAP - they can take a while.
