Perfect Father/Daughter Dance Song!

"It won't be like this for long" by Darrius Rucker

Oh. My. Goodness.  I can't listen to this song without crying already.  What is going to happen to me if I end up using this song for the actual dance?

I guess I just need to plan on shedding a few tears on my wedding day, as I am an emotional person in general.

I was thinking about using "raindrops keep fallin on my head" as the father/daughter dance song initially - my dad used to sing me that song when I was little :)

Thoughts about song choices or wedding day tears?

Step one: waterproof makeup!

My dad and I will be dancing to "Stand By Me" by Seal.  We danced to it when I was a little girl.  Its a little more up beat so might help with the tears.

I am going to dance to "Walk with You" by Edwin McCain with my dad. It's beautiful and makes me cry every time.

I'm dancing with my step-dad as my father passed away a few years ago and my mom was remarried when I was 11.  So I was never my step-dad's "little girl" and he didn't know me as a baby.  But he was there for me through all the trials and tribulations I could possibly put him through.  So we're dancing to Uncle Cracker "You make me Smile".  It's cute and bubbly and sweet without being sappy and sentimental, because I don't want to cry because my dad isn't there.  And my step-dad really likes the line "you drive me wild!"... because it really captured the way I made him feel while I was growing up.  lol   A little unconventional, perhaps, but it works for us!

We are going to dance to "Midnight Lullaby" by Tom Waits. Love that song so much, and it makes me think of back when my dad and I were really close.

My dad and I danced to "Unforgettable". It was supposed to be the duet version with Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, but it ended up that the dj played the Nat King Cole version. My dad picked the song. Neither one of us wanted a sappy country song, so this is what we ended up with. :-) I liked it because it was memorable and not too sappy.  (I didn't cry!) ;-)
