DJ v. iPod?

Hi Ladies-

My fiance and I are debating on whether to invest in a DJ, or just use our iPods/ laptops and have a friend emcee the night.

Any thoughts? Have you been to weddings without professional entertainment?

well, the cost of renting the PA system would probably run you what it would cost to hire a cheap DJ... assuming that most people don't have a PA system lying around. it actually probably costs more...

Good point. I haven't priced them out yet, but I am *hoping* my friend's boyfriend will be able to get his hands on one for free/ cheap since he uses them for his band.

That said, any recommendations on affordable DJs?? We'd want someone with minimal crwod interaction- no chicken dances or glow in the dark necklaces being passed out! :)

A DJ can get a sense of the people and know what kind of music to play and take requests. And lets face it if a song comes on that you really don't want to hear you will probably walk over and skip it and ruin someone elses fun. Hire a DJ. look on craigs list for our area and you can find some pretty cheap.
