Grandma's Tears

My Grandma has been a huge part of my life. She had partial custody of my brother and I until I was seven, and even after that I spent every other weekend or so at her house.  She's the type of Grandma who is happier when she is surrounded by her 'kids'.  She is second on my speed-dial (after my mom) and I've been calling her with all the details.  However, the day Mom and I went shopping for the dress, Grandma couldn't make it.  So this last weekend was the first time she saw me in it.  I brought it to the church where I was getting married and tried it on so that a few cousins and friends who will be out of the states over our wedding could see it.  Of course I invited Grandma.  When she got there, I had the gown on, and Mom was fitting the veil on my head.  Grandma started crying and held me saying "My baby, my little girl".  When Grandma left my aunt pulled me aside and told me that I looked exactly like her sister, my aunt, who passed away seven years ago from cancer. It was extremely hard for Grandma  When Grandma walked in she saw me, but she also saw my aunt.  I am very glad that she saw me in the dress early, instead of being hit with the likeness at the wedding.  I called her Tuesday and talked to her about it.  She will be lighting the candle that will be burning in memory of my aunt at our wedding.
