West Coast Brides- Beware of Lange Farm

Congratulations to all my fellow brides to be! Please remember this review when considering your wedding venue location. Recently my fiancee and I fell in love with Lange Farm and their grounds for our outdoor, fall wedding. They were booked this year so we happily selected a date November 2013, Good things come to those who wait, right? Recently my Grandmother asked us to consider dates for this year, as she was getting older and facing some health issues. We were happy to accomodate.

We booked Lange Farm in March with a $1800 deposit. When I called to cancel, I was advised that all monies are non refundable. Ok, I am the first to admit, I signed the contract never thinking we would cancel. Reality is that things change and life happens. Bottom line is that Lange Farm will keep our deposit for services never to be delivered. They will not work with us for a partial refund, even though they have more than a year to rebook our date.

When I pressed for an escalation, I was advised that the lawyers were standing firm against the refund. Sadly, I have no recourse other than to warn anyone considering Lange Farm to think twice. They were nice during the sale. They were great in taking our money. They were true business and lawyers when things changed. Lange Farm is in the business of delivering a service with many competitors. If you are considering them as your vendor, please go into your agreement eyes wide open. Please consider their competitors and remember this post.

  • So....you're mad at them because you didn't bother reading what you were signing?

  • If the contract stated non-refundable deposit,  you should be mad at yourself and not them.  Sorry, I think you were very wrong posting this.

  • I too agree with the PP; however I think it is unreasonable that they will hold your full refunnd.  I can understand them holding it until they get that date booked again; but if they are that busy and will probably be able to fill it for the date you reserved than they should at least be able to provide you with a partial refund once they fill that date.

Lesson learned - read what you sign and agree to.  Good luck with your hunt for a new vendor!
  • Most venue deposits are non-refundable, and yes, it is always in your contract. I dont think that is a reason to stay away! Although I will say when I went there to tour the 'office' smells of cats, reminded me of an old cat ladys home, which of course doesnt matter since your wedding isnt in that room, but it does directly lead to the kitchen where your cater sets up (no door between the two) so because of the smell I felt it was unsanitary, and at min. a big turnoff.

  • I have never heard of a venue refunding someone's money.   A deposit is money put down for them to hold your date, and they did.

Instead of posting a rant that can get you sued for libel and slander, you should ask them what dates they have available between August 1 and December 31, 2012 and go get married there this fall.
