Ellen, no you don't type it in every time.  Just click on "update signature" in the left hand menu bar on this page under "community links".  Paste the code in the box that says "my forums signature".

You can then test it by going back into any thread you've ever posted on (including this one) since it will only show your current signature, not the one you had when you made the post.  Make sure you use the one that starts with <a href...  HTH!
