More ceremony music questions!

What are you thinking about playing for prelude music? We're not having any musicians so obvs that may make a difference. I really like the idea of playing different contemporary love songs we like. Rather than all instrumental classical music. I think it will also help contrast the traditional music we'll play once the ceremony and all the processions begin. Anyway, what route are you taking for prelude?

Question 2 I really love Canon in D but I can't decide whether I want to start it when the bridal party enters or just when I enter. It's a song with a bit of buildup and I don't know what fits better for my entrance. So I want to know what your plans are, will you have a seperate song for your entrance? Or one continuous song for you and the WP?

Re: More ceremony music questions!

  • Just wanted to say I love Canon in D too, so we're having the mothers seated during that song. We are also doing a sand ceremony, and they are carrying in the sand and placing it at the alter, so it's a little more than just walking in and sitting down. As for the bridal party entrance, I am not sure...honestly, my planner is handling all ceremony music, except for the recessional.

For the prelude, I also am leaving it up to her and the DJ, but said I'd like some soft contemporary music, rather than just classical. I have no particular songs in mind, though.

We have 2 songs for when the ceremony starts.

First song is for entrance of grooms parents, my mom and brother and the 2 flower girls.
Second song is for my entrance.

For the prelude, we have 5 songs.  No classical or instrumental.  It doesn't suit our personalities and I didn't feel like doing all the research to find the right pieces.

    The One - Elton John
Love is a beautiful thing - Phil Vassar
    Say - John Mayer
    I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz
On S'est Aime a Cause - Celine Dion
  • I have Canon in D playing when the grandparents, parents, and bridesmaids walk.

When I walk, I will have the string quartet version of "I Miss You" by Incubus--it is beautiful! makes me want to cry every time i hear it

  • Our ceremony is in a church so we will be having Canon in D for our bridal party entrance, starting with the mother's entrance. The doors will be shut and then the organist will start playing the traditional Here Comes the Bride for when I walk down the aisle.

"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
  • I'm not much help on thee prelude because we are doing Vivaldi A Walk in the Four Seasons which is classical music.  Our mother's are walking into Ave Maria -Schubert and my brides maids are coming in to Canon D.  I will walk into the traditional bridal march by Wagner

  • I think we're going to have some "fun" instrumental music playing for the prelude -  like Jerry Douglas. It fits us  and the rest of the music we're using for the wedding.

We haven't completely decided on the processional, but we'll just have one song.  There's only our parents and two bridesmaids to go in before my dad and I, so we'd really have to cut one off and then you'd only hear a tiny peice of whatever I walk in to.

I would start Canon in D when the bridal party enters, since it does have a buildup.
  • I'm letting the cello quartet play whatever for prelude music...when FI & the officiant head down the aisle they'll be going down to Canon in D as well as when the mother's are being seated....

The quartet will be playing All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera (I love love lovve that movie!) when the WP goes down...

For me, I'll have Nothing Else Matters by Apocolyptica (or Metallica) be played by the quartet as well...I LOVE this song....I get goose bumps every time!!
