Hotel Room Blocks

Ok, so here is my dumb question of the day... How do hotel room blocks work?? Do you just put a hold on the number of rooms you decide? Or do you actually get charged for those rooms? I'm just confused on how all of this works..

Depends on theh otel, but most do not charge.  The reserve the block of rooms that you want (genearlly for a lower rate) and theyhold them for a certain period of time.  When the tmie is up the rooms get re-released to the general public.  A lot of this depends on the season or the hotel.

Usually they will hold the rooms until 30 days before your wedding date at no charge. If you would like to continue after the 30 days then a deposit is required. Sometimes you can negotiate breakfast discounts and parking discounts along with a lower room rate.

Usually hotels have a Sales Mgr for special events and they will go over their different policies with you too....

We found that 3 different hotels in the New Tampa area were owned my the same company and the same MGR~ handled the blocks at all three.  It was great for comparison purposes
