Toasting Flutes, Cake Knife and Server

How much are you spending on these items? And where are you/did you get them? This the last thing on my list to purchase!

I was thinking Bed, Bath and Beyond, but they are super expensive. Help please!

My bridesmaid and her family got me mine for my shower gift.  I told her something simple and she did a nice job.  They are from Things Remembered.  There are new designs all the time and a good selection.   If you don't do the engraving the prices are great there, when you add engraving it goes up quick but it's a nice touch.

I got mine from Things Remembered. They were $40 i think without the engraving. I don't remember how much engraving was but i felt it was worth it.

I knew early on I wanted the Kate Spade Belle Boulevard serving set and toasting glasses, which were both expensive, so my mom got me the serving set for my birthday, the lead crystal vase for Christmas and my godmother is giving me the toasting flutes for my wedding.  They purchased them at Bed, Bath & Beyond using 20% off coupons.

    This really helps!

bride2bhcl, i don't know if they're the same ones that you have, but i love the kate spade toasting flutes from bed bath & beyond that have mr. and mrs. on them! i thought they were a little pricey, but we can always use them for anniversaries, special dinners for 2, etc. So I will make the investment. Plus, I have a gift card, so that will cover most of the cost.

I will check out Things Remembered for the cake knife and server set.

    Thanks girls!

The is the one thing I am going kitsch with.  We're not going to have schmancy toasting flutes or cake servers.  I can appreciate them and have seen many that are really pretty, but I just rather put that $ towards something else I'll use more.  Also, I am often mocked for my total and utter unabashed LOVE for all things IKEA, so I actually have a new knife and cake server set from them for $3 that is simple, modern, white (yes, plastic).  It may seem tacky or trashy when everything else we're doing is formal, but the guests who really know me, will appreciate the humor.....i hope.  =o)

I love the Mr and Mrs flutes too!!!!  Ours are the ones with the ribbon etched in the glass.  Do you have a 20% off coupon?  Would save you like $12 on them...if you sign up for emails from them they send you a coupon.

I know they were a splurge but I HAD to have something Kate Spade for my wedding...love her!  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" />

We already have a nice pair of flutes at home that we'll use (and by nice I don't mean diamonds or anything) and I bought our serving set from Michaels for cheap.

I can't bring myself to spend hundreds on something we'll never use again, or will rarely use.

bride2bhcl  I totally agree! Thanks for the heads up. I would only have to pay like 15 bucs with the gift card and coupon!

I love it!  I don't want to spend much on this stuff either so I will probably borrow mine or get something pretty cheap

We bought NONE of these.  Our venue hosts wedding receptions and banquets all the time, and they provided us with all of this for free.

FI managed to get the Bombay Company Cake Server set for about $20 on ebay (don't know how it ended up so cheap, we think the person who listed them didn't realize how much they could have gotten since they are discontinued!).

MOB got us the toasting flutes I became slightly obsessed with from Things Remembered...they are absolutely lovely! They were one of the pricier sets we looked at, but I figure we will use them for all our special occasions throughout our marriage (same with the cake server set, I love the idea of bringing those out on family holidays and birthdays).

    I totally agree with heidilein13!!!!

It all depends on how important these things are to you.  We never use champagne flutes at home, nor a cake serving set, so the thought of spending $$$ on them to have as keepsakes was not a priority for us.

We got the Martha Stewart cake serving set from Wal-Mart which are a really cute scroll design with a tiny white bow ($20) and 2 flutes from Old Time Pottery that we tied a bow on. ($10).

As a side note, keep in mind any decoration on the handles of the cake set or even the flutes will hardly be seen, because they'll both be covered by your hand when you're using them!
