Destination Wedding in Naples or Marco Island

Hi! I am looking for a 5 star resort to have an intimate wedding. I am wondering if anyone can tell me which would be nicer, Naples or Marco island? Can someone tell me the nicest and most elegant resort in those ares? I have been looking at LaPlaya Beach and golf resort in Naples, but some of the reviews have not been so great. I am also looking at the Marriott Beach Resort and Spa on Marco Island. Please help! I am going crazy just trying to descide on location and resort.

HI! Congrats on your engagement! I like LaPlaya and I also like the Ritz in Naples. If you are looking for an upscale resort in the area, have you considered South Seas on Captiva Island?  It's beautiful. Best of luck planning!!

Thank You! It looks like my FI is interested in the Marco Island Marriott beach, spa and golf resort. Do you have any information on this resort? Any thoughts?

As a head's up on the Ritz, it is literally right next to a major public beach access point... so beware that there may be many vacationers watching your weddding if you have it there (I know, I've seen a few while at the beach).

Marco only has one public beach access point (though all the beaches are technically public) so it's definitely more private.  The Marco Marriott does have about a $10k minimum for the reception... there is a Hlton on Marco as well and the Marco Beach Ocean Resort (I'm actually looking into those for myself!).

Thank You! This has been helpful. Do you have any information about the Laplaya resort in Naples? Is it upscale and elegant?

I don't have much experience with LaPlaya except that they are not too far from the same public beach access point that is near the Ritz.

We ate lunch there one day for a work function - if they cater from their restaurant, then the food will be amazing.  It does have a very nice view of the beach and at least from the restaurant area it seems more private than the Ritz.

I know they only do valet parking at LaPlaya (no self-park) so that will be an added expense for people driving to the resort.
