Please Help!

Im in the early planning stages for a destination wedding in Southwest Flordia.  I live in Chicago and will be traveling to Ft. Myers in May to try to scout some reception locations.  My fiance and I want to have an outdoor party for about 50 people.  We are hoping to find a place that will allow alcohol and a late end time.  We also need a location that's reasonably close to moderately priced accommodations. I don't have much time in Ft. Myers, so I want to limit my list to places that would be a good fit.  We are on a budget, not a nonexistent budget, but neither an extravagant one.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a spot that is off-the-path, low-key and beautiful for two nature lovers?  Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,
Ro

Hi! The Edison Home is a great suggestion. You could also check out the Burrough's Home which is a historic home on the river that holds outdoor ceremonys and receptions. There is the Pink Shell on Fort Myers beach, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

Other places- Sanibel Harbor Resort is very nice and on the water- I went to a great wedding there where the ceremony and reception were both outside by the pool. Also, there's Casa Ybel on Sanibel that does outside events, and Lover's Key Resort.

    Good luck!

Is Ft. Myers your final destination or have you thought of other places?

We chose the Tarpon Lodge www.tarponlodge.com. They have enough rooms there to accommodate all of our guests and shut down the hotel so that only our guests are staying there. It has a rustic old florida feel and a great restaurant.
