photographer and DJ help - captiva island wedding

Hi, ladies. :) I am the MOH for my best friend's wedding 9/26 at Captiva Island.  We are both from Boston heading down there for the destination wedding, so needless to say planning will be a challenge and I am hoping for some help from the Knotties. :)

We are looking for 2 vendors right now - a photographer and a DJ.  We are hoping to find some reasonably-priced options for both.

For a photographer, we got a list from the reception site of preferred vendors.  The ones we most like right now are Jason Angelini, Angel Gray, and Frank Simonetti.  Has anyone used them?  Any other suggestions?

For the DJ... not even sure where to start, would just like some recommendations of decent DJ's for a reasonable price.

Any help would be so much appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

    Well from what the word is here Jason is the best but if your plan is to try to get him I would call soon because he BOOKS quickly...as far as DJ goes there are several good ones that I see repeatedly:

    RJ Vida
    Sword
    Frank Lebano & Co.
    Grant Hemond and Assoc.

    Hi & Welcome to the board!  I'm from the Boston area too (there are a couple of us on here).  Where abouts are you from?  I live in SE Mass. 
    Anyway, we're using Kimberly Dyer for our photographer.  www.kimberlydyerphotography.com So far, she's been great.
    For our Entertainment, we have both a guitarist/singer & a DJ from Delite Entertainment.  We ran into a little snag a couple weeks ago, but the owner was very professional about it & fixed the situation to my expectations.  So again, they've been great as well.

    If the weddnig is in Captiva you might want to check for vendors in the Ft. Myers area too.  I know Jason is in Tampa (we are using him for our Naples wedding) and like the PP say, he books up quick!  He only charges a smallish fee for travel outside of Tampa, but you lose two hours of the total time (goes from 10 hours to 8 hours). 

    We just booked our DJ through Sunset entertainment, they gave us the best rate and only charge $50 for extra hour if they stay later.  HTH!

    BTW, i live in Boston too and am planning SW FL wedding as welll =)

    Definitely second the suggestions for Jason Angelini and RJ Vida...we booked Jason a year and a half out since he books up so fast, and were really happy with our engagement photos. We were really impressed with RJ Vida when we met with him, very fun and dynamic personality, I think he's going to do a great job! :)

    Jason is WONDERFUL
    Grant Hermond has great reviews 

    With that said, MOST will travel but most good ones book quick around here

    We are also getting married in the area and we are using Heather Harris for photography and Sword Sounds for DJ. Good luck!
