Hurricane season

Hi Knotties,

I'm a Brooklyn bride hoping to get married on the beach in October.  We have pretty much settled on either Naples or Sarasota.  Am I insane to be planning a wedding outside during hurricane season??? People are starting to freak me out.

    Well, i've been living in Sarasota for almost 20 years, and yet to experience huriricane, according to some Indian mythl, Sarasota is safe, lol, but don't quote me on it. :)

    hmm, I grew up in Naples and I remember the 2004 season very vividly.  I believe we got three storms in one month between september-october.  I think anytime you plan something outside there is a weather risk.  Generally the later in October I think you will be safer, but you probably won't have to worry too much.

    No, that sounds great. 

    Yes, we did have some storms in 2004.  But that's a long time ago. 
    And when we did have those storms in 2004, they were in late July and early August.
    Not October.

    I'm from CA getting married in Naples this month. I was thinking the same thing at first but just went with it. I'll let you know how mine turns out.....................I hope!!

    Phew!  Okay.  I feel better now.  I think we will take out wedding insurance just in case but I've always dreamed of a wedding on the beach so I'm just going to go for it!  Thanks ladies.

    woo hoo! I think wedding insruance is a good idea.  I am pretty sure that the majority of hurricanes do happen later in the season but the odds that they happen on or even close to your wedding day are probably slim to none.

    just a fact of life here...mine is late oct.  I was a little concerned but I've also been in a tropical storm in the middle of dec so you just gotta go with it!
