Registry snoop

So I have an addiction Embarassed I constantly check our wedding registry to see if anything else has been purchased!

Now last weekend was my Bridal Shower, and I got super excited because tons of stuff was suddenly being purchased...but now, less than 2 weeks away to the actual wedding absolutely nothing else has been bought Cry I know I'm not supposed to be checking this thing anyway, but I can't help it, and I wanted to ask how normal it is for people to wait until the last second to buy gifts?

Or should I just accept no one is buying anything? hehehe

My mom was like the Chief Monitor.  She checked it like 20x a day and would call me the second something was bought.

I think it is pretty safe to assume that most people will wait to get gifts closer to the date (last minute perhaps...haha).  I am going to a wedding this weekend and I got the couple their gift yesterday off their registry....

lol nicole! i checked mine all the time before my shower. But i wouldn't expect a lot of gifts at the actual wedding. I think only one person brought a gift from my registry, everyone else gave money.

I will admit....I check mine all the time!!!  I'm guessing people are procrastinating.

I agree with **corstink**  I recieved 2 gifts and the rest was money and we had 157 guest that attended;)

I check mine countless times a day.  I think its one of the perks of being a bride,  we can stalk, and no one can judge!!

    WHOA! No way!

I have been very curious if people havent bought anything for the same reason. I mean we will gladly take money as a gift....but I really wish people would buy us a few key things off the registry, haha.

It totally feeds my need for opening gifts. Christmas is lmy favorite thing in the whole world, just because nothing beats opening a present. Youd' think sneaking and seeing firt what I'm getting would ruin it...but it doesn't <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

You are too funny!  We registered about 1 month ago and I haven't looked at it since!.  Like the pp's I think most people will give money vs. bringing a gift to the wedding...seems to be the trend these days!

We received like 10-12 gifts at the wedding and then the rest was cards but we received a LOT of mailed gifts from our registry the week before and week after the wedding.

I only checked the registry like once the whole time, I was too busy with things to actually check and it was nice to be suprised when opening gifts.

How early on did the rest of you ladies create registries? I've been thinking about where to go & register at. But, I didn't know it if would look greedy registering early on.

Yeah, I've had everything done for so long that I'm bored to tears and now just check it randomly because I really want the toaster, lol.

Well man, I am glad I made this thread. The last few weddings I've been to had lots of gifts at the reception, but seeing all of you say you mostly got money is pretty eye-opening.

    Well hooray for money!

I wouldn't register to early, a lot of items become discontinued,  or are just seasonal. We did it about 5-6 months before. My family did our Christmas and birthday shopping off our registry. I've already had to change somethings because they are no longer offered.

Hey Nicole- I just had to jump in because I honestly didnt expect to get much in the way of gifts at our wedding. Nicks family is kinda weird and I just didnt expect most of them to even get us a card. But to my plesant surprise, several of them got us cards WITH MONEY!!!!! I think I got 2-3 actual gifts at the wedding, and the rest cards with money or gift cards. and we had 100 people at our wedding. Hope this helps- but I guess it just depends on your crowd.
