Showers

My FI lives in Columbus and I will be moving there once I'm married.  Is it acceptable to have a couples wedding shower in Columbus in addition to the one or two I may have here?  Should I ask someone to throw it (maybe my FMIL) or wait to see if someone offers?  Thoughts?

You should not ask anyone to throw you any kind of party or shower.  If they offer, that's great.  However, its not a big deal to have multiple parties/showers.  Lots of people do b/c they may have family in different states, etc.

Yes yes yes.  Do not ask people to host a party for you.  If they do, that's awesome.  If they don't, no biggee!

Agree with pp.  No harm in multiple showers. Maybe someone will ask to throw you a shower and solicit your input, in which case you could suggest a couples shower. You could throw your own engagement party. You and your FI could do this as a couple.

Don't ASK someone to throw you a party. Would you want someone asking YOU to throw a party? Um, no.

You get slammed everywhere you go!  As you know, I had more than one shower and I think that's more and more common these days.  If no one else offers to throw you a shower up there, I will ;-)
