    I'll go first...

So mt birthday weekend was coming up and Chris asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner and then a walk through the park.  I had a little thought that he was going to ask me then.  Then that night my mom called ot tell me that my stepfathers dad was in bad shape and they had called hospie, it was only a matter of time.  Sadly we lost him 2 days later.  I told Chris I needed to go home for my birthday for the funeral and he was adamant that he go to.  I had kind of forgotten about the whole proposal thing and thought how sweet it was that he wanted to come with when he had never met this man before.  We ended up having to spend a lot of money on the flights and the service came at a really bad time for me at work.  I was a mess; stress, anxious, upset that it happened and the timing of it all.  So when we got to my parents house the day afte rmy birthday I hadn't thought aything of a proposal but as chris and I were sitting at my parents house in the kitchen Chris asked me to marry him. He was so nervous he forget to get the ring out of his pocket.

Of course I said yes and i have never looked back.  I am kind of glad that it happened that way because it was a bright spot to the whole crummy situation.  We knew that my stepdad's father would have ben happy and celebrated with us.

It was the day after Christmas, my FI and I were off to MI to visit his family. I knew eventually we would get married, but I did not expect it to happen around the time. He had already spoiled me with Christmas gifts. So...as one of my Christmas gifts he got me a Scrabble travel game (it's one of our fav games to play). FI mentioned we should take it on the airplane to play so we packed it. Somehow he sneeked the game Christmas night and wrote out a proposal to me on the board. So the next day as we were on the airplane already up in the air he said "Let's play a game of scrabble." I didn't think anything of it and went to open up the game and before I knew it there was this proposal and he opened the ring box. I'm incorporating our scrabble engagement into our reception through our wedding cake that I designed.

Hey my proposal happened over my birthday weekend as well. I'm in California for grad school and my fiance flew up from Florida to celebrate my birthday weekend with me. We love road trips and thought of going to Catalina Island and San Diego but plans changed quickly. Hours after picking him up at the airport I began feeling really sick. I was shivering and had flu like symptoms. I was not feeling better the next day and he had to take me to urgent care. Turns out it wasn't anything major, but just experiencing symptoms of the mandatory swine flu shot I and taken the week before (total bummer). I told the doctor I was having a birthday dinner on Sat. night and wanted to feel better quickly so he gave me prescription.

My birthday was actually Sunday but we celebrated with my friends at the Cheesecake factor. I've always wanted to eat there (versus just ordering cheescake and leaving lol). I had a really good time. My fiance wanted us to have Sunday (my birthday) to ourselves. On Sunday morning, he said he had a surprise for me. We ended up going to a shooting range. I've always wanted to do this and we had so much fun. On our way back from the shooting range he said he had one more surprise for me. He did not tell me where we were going and I became really  nervous because we were driving for about an hour and he's not from Cali. I seriously thought he was lost and was refusing to ask for direction lol. Anyway we ended up passing through Pasadena and I began guessing where he was taking me.

We had been to Huntington gardens out there before but did not have a chance to tour the gardens because we got there late. So upon approaching the exit I got really exited and told him how much I appreciated him taking me out here again. To my dismay he kept on driving and passed the exit for the gardens. By this time, I'm not happy being in suspense ( I really hate surprises). Anyway we exited shortly after and before long I recognized where I was. Somehow he managed to find another exit to take us to the gardens. I received several calls from friends and family to wish me happy birthday but someone kept calling him and he was becoming agitated. I looked at the phone and it was his mom. Apparently she had been calling him to find out he had proposed already and he wasn't answering in order to keep me in the dark.

Well it was a bright and sunny day but I looked like a bum. I had a runny nose, was dressed in slacks and was not in the mood to take pictures and to top it off, my shoes hurt after walking for only 15 mins. So I suggested that we go to Ross and get some Sandals. The store was 5 mins away and while there I decided to buy other items... poor guy. We went back to the gardens and he was trying to find  secluded spot. After finding the perfect spot an older lady wanted to know if we could make room on the bench for tired husband. Looking back at this, all I can do is laugh. I was ok with it but I could tell that my fiance was a bit annoyed. We left, found a better spot, and he proposed there. I could not stop crying but I managed to say yes and soon after I was on the phone with my mom. Apparently all my close friends and parents knew he was coming out to propose. I was the last to know but I would not have it any other way. We celebrated with friends and it took about 2 days for my eyes to look normal.lol.

Yikes, this was long, sorry for the long post!

Here's the story. We were on vacation touring the Pacific Northwest (including San Fran and Wine Country) celebrating our recent Graduate School graduations... Honestly, I think we were trying to divert from the horrendous summer heat we've had this year. Heath informed me that he set up a picnic in the winery we happened to be staying at in Napa. Which is nothing new. We picnic all the time. It's our thing. Our standing date. Here we are in Napa - a nice cool 70 degrees or so. Overlooking the gorgeous California mountainscape when Heath looked at me with tears in his eyes. He began reciting much of our 7 year relationship. College, grad school, job hunting, moving, house hunting, etc. He told me how he knew really early on that I was his soulmate. He wrapped a nice blanket around us. We shared a wonderful kiss and some seriously amazing cheese... LOL   As the sun was setting into the mountains. We laid back looking at the sky as dusk approached. We took some silly self portraits (as always). And then Heath, being the sly devil that he is reached into the basket and pulled out a velvet bag... He recited a poem that my grandfather has recited to my grandmother for 68 years. And then BAM! He pulled out the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen. I can't even remember everything he said to me. It was so beautiful and poetic. I'm not even sure I said yes.

Now, if we could only agree on a date and a location... LMAO

Since I was away at school FI and I took every opportunity to spend time together while I was home. Fi  knew my mom and I were going to go shopping the early morning of Black Friday, but Fi insisted we spend time together that afternoon. He had a surprise planned for me. Of course, I kept asking questions.. because I hate secrets. And All he would tell me is "We've been here before, and you keep asking to come back" As we get on the road and head north-east... i'm getting confused and swear we are going to Disney... that's the only place I've been pleading to go. We gett off the interstate somewhere around Lakeland... and i'm sure he is lost.... Every question I ask he just repeats "We've been here before and you keep asking to go back"

Well we pull up to Bok Towers Gardens.. (I'd never been there before) and I am really confused... he explains to me that they have a house decorated for Christmas that he really wants me to see as well as some beautiful gardens for us to take a hike through. I was so excited to go on a hike... I hadn't suspected a proposal at all. We walked through the gardens and fed the geese that were in the moat surrounding the bell tower. Then he talks me off to a secluded spot overlooking red dirt roads and orange groves. As we are sitting on the bench enjoying the beautiful weather and cuddling he begins to get very fidgety and asking "what is today's date?" "Does today have any special meaning?".... before I know it he is down on one knee asking me to marry him... I am crying and can't stop kissing him.

MY FI proposed in the same location that we are getting married! :) He is still in college in North Georgia and I moved up there to be closer to him, we are both originally from South Georgia. His spring break was coming up and he wanted to plan a trip to the beach. I had never been to Florida's West Coast so we got online and found a beautiful hotel, the Grand Plaza Resort on St. Pete Beach! We have been together since high school and so we had definitely talked about getting married, we are 24, but he kept telling me that it would be later so I quit talking about it. However, his only request about the wedding was that it be on the beach, so when I saw this hotel I broke my silence. I told him that since we were so far away, this trip would be a good opportunity to get some information from the Grand Plaza and other places about weddings and the costs, etc. He agreed so I called and spoke with a wedding coordinator at the Grand Plaza. I explained to her that we were not yet engaged and that we just wanted to ask some questions and get some information. ANYWAY! We took a group of friends down there with us and they went somewhere while we met with the wedding planner. She went over everything with us and we both fell quickly in love! I knew that i wanted to get married there and he agreed. However, there was no point in setting a date like that. I was totally against that, I wanted to be a little old fashioned! LOL! So once the meeting was over she told us that our room was ready, but he insisted we go out on the beach, I reluctantly agreed(I had a BIG purse and it was cold, LOL). We walked out and turned around and were looking up at the hotel, I asked if he loved it and he said he did. The he started rambling about spending the rest of my life with him and asked if that is what i really wanted, I started to get annoyed and thought he was about to dump me! I said, nothing scares me about spending the rest of my life with you, I love you and have known that I wanted to marry you for a long time....WHY???? Does it scare you??? And he said...No....I'm pretty solid, I mean, Im solid as a rock, more particularly THIS ONE! He opened his hand and was holding the ring that we had been constantly looking at! He got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him! Honestly, I don;t know if I even said yes, I started trying to breathe and kiss him! LOL! We are getting married just yards from where he asked me to marry him on April 2, 2011, I cannot WAIT! :)

I had mentioned to my fiance a long time ago how a fellow classmate took her dog to Honeymoon Island Park Beach and I wanted to check it to may be take our dog, Belle to it. Many months later, he started talking about how his coworkers were talking about Honeymoon Island and the part of the beach that was less crowded and how it would be perfect to take Belle to it. After talking about it we decided to go check it out and watch the sunset. In the beginning of our relationship we used to love to go to the beach and watch sunset so the following weekend we decided to go. Since we had never been there before Pat decided to take a towel with him so we could sit down and watch the sunset but to our surprise the beach had a bench every so many feet. After walking for a while we decided to sit down at a bench and watch the people walking and the sunset. So all of the sudden Pat got attacked by fire ants so I then told him to open the towel so we can sit on it but he insisted that we should keep walking until the next bench. So we did exact that then finally found a bench that was ant free. While sitting there Pat brought up the fact that he didn't know why he brought this towel with him b/c the beach had benches and I agreed and said " I have no clue why you are dragging that along because I saw they had some seating on their website. Unless you are hiding something inside that towel." Right then and there he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn't stop laughing because I was right about him hiding something and because I was so excited. Right after it both proceeded to call all of our family members and friends. The funny part was that I kept calling my parents over and over and neither would pick up their phones b/c they were at a friend's house for a party.

    Love all the stories.

My parents came out in Nov., to put the diamond in the ring. Since that I day, I would (mostly) jokingly ask when he was going to propose. He said soon, but he didn't know how to do it. So I would randomly through out ideas. Well, we got our (fake) Christmas tree the first weekend in Dec. We put it up and decorated it. Sunday morning, he was in the bathroom shaving, and I was looking at the tree and noticed a open spot. I started rearranging things and noticed a bright shiny ring on the tree. I started calling for him. He came out with a big smile on his face! He got down on one knee and started telling me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend forever with me and put the ring on my finger. I said yes. So this is how we got here. I asked him a couple of weeks ago when he knew when he wanted to marry me, he answered when we moved to Florida together. That was only after 3 months of dating.

I thought I was going to meet friends for a nice dinner at the Top of the Hub Restaurant in Boston three days before Chrsitmas, but when I got out of the elevator on the 50th floor, Sean was standing there instead ( he had taken a 20 hour train ride from Georgia to surprise me).  He even rented a car, drove to NH, talked to my parents, then drove back to boston to meet me.  Got down on one knee in the lobby of the restaurant, and I was speechless!!!

Then we enjoyed a an awesome dinner with sweeping views of Boston!
