Wedding dress opinions...

Hey, newbie here! I've just started planning my wedding ceremony and reception for April 13th 2012 at the Rusty Pelican.

My question is about my wedding dress compared to my venue. Should there be any relation between the two? When I first started looking at dresses, I was looking at more free flowing, light weight dresses. Now I'm leaning more towards a drop waste gown with a few pick ups. It's a little more elegant. I didn't think anything of this until a friend commented on how well my original dress idea matched the venue more than my new dress idea.

Is this even something to really consider?
Any help is appreciated! Thank you :)

I would if it means comfort, but it's your dress pick what makes you feel beautiful.

Welcome! I am a Rusty Pelican bride too! I would just get a dress that you love. I had Rusty Pelican picked out before I went dress shopping, but it didn't really influence my decision on a dress. I just knew which dress was the one when I had it on. Good luck dress shopping!

The only time I feel like it would make a difference is if you are getting married on the beach. You wouldn't want heavy satin dragging around in the sand. Other than that you should wear what you feel like a bride in.

Thanks girls. I didn't think it should influence it too much but after my friend said something I couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to get some other brides' opinions.

How has your experience been with the Rusty Pelican so far? I'm just getting started with Sarah.

I work with Sarah too! I love her! Everything has gone very smoothly so far so no problems. Which room are you going to use? Have you been to a wedding show there?

Thought I would jump in. I was just married at Rusty Pelican on 6/26.. I posted a few pics and reviews earlier, if you ladies are interested. Sarah was my coordinator also, altough I much preferred my original coordinator.

I had a rather large dress, which suited my reception room well. WE used the Bay and Pelican rooms, overlooking the gazebo & gardens. The views are AMAZING!

We're using the Grand Ballroom and Coral room for the cocktail hour. We chose to get married on Friday the 13th of April so we saved about $2000 on the minimum speding amount for both rooms. I actually just went to the bridal show this past month. That's basically what sealed the deal for me. My fiance took a little more convincing.
BL, thank you! I'm going to check it out. And who was your original coordinator?
