Reception Venue Help

Hello!

Has anyone had a reception or ceremony at the St. Pete Beach Rec Center, or been to one there? We are close to sending a deposit but wanted to get some input first. Thanks for the help!

i looked at this venue for my reception and the one thing that steered me away from booking that when I spoke to a few caterers and they mentioned to me that they have been to that venue for wedding and they have noticed that in the past since it is a recreation center they also have other activities going on at the same time as the ceremony such as karate class at one of the other rooms. So just make sure that there is no other fuction that will going on the day of your wedding. Also on the opposite side of the stairs there is a skate park and that is also public so there will be kids on their skate boards there and from what i have heard on weekends there seems to be many kids there haningin out....so just make sure everything with the coordinator....just wanted to give you my opinions when i was looking to book the venue...

Yes, we have seen probably three Knotties a year get married there - and all have LOVED it.  Try looking up JenniLovesElvis - maybe on the WCF Nest....

Thank you for the input! Its extrememly helpful. We are getting married at a nearby church, and having a Friday evening reception, so hopefully there will not be anything else going on. But I'm definetely going to check on that before sending a deposit. Thanks again!

Kristin, how do I look up JenniLovesElvis? I'm still new to the knot and learning the ropes. I have no idea how to search on The Nest. Thanks!

As a PP mentioned, be careful of the skatepark.  I know a couple girls had issues with that and how the skaters were coming over to the reception.  One even had some glass hurricane globes broken by some of the kids.

We looked here as well.  The only thing I will warn you is that you will need a large decor budget in order to make it look like a wedding.  It is very plain inside and it's great for someone who has the budget to go to town and deck it out.  That was one thing that deterred us.  Also, the staff was not at all accommodating.  My FI and I took off work and made an appointment to see it a week in advance.  When we arrived, the woman said she "must not have gotten the memo" and she couldn't leave the desk to show us around, so we should just "go look" and let her know if we had any questions...seemed like they weren't very organized.
