Gary Kaplan

Has anyone used the photographer Gary Kaplan ? There are very limited reviews for him...

If I'm not wrong, I believe he does the photography work for Demetrio's and high end photo shoots in Florida and in New York.  I was told he's very good and very expensive.

i met him at a bridal event. he was nice, his albums looked nice, very vogue-ish,  seems reputable. the event i was had make up and hair trials, which i was turned off because you could only book the hair and makeup people if you booked gary, so if you really liked them but not gary you were out of luck. anyway, after the trials he took some photos of the girls, and it was a bit dark out and he told me they wouldnt be good cause of the lighting, my reception will be all outdoors so I was also turned off because although night isnt ideal, i feel like that isnt a comment you make to an outdoor wedding bride. But again, he was very nice and albums were pretty! Coral was correct-- he does work in NY also, be careful because he doesnt always shoot the weddings, he has 2 associates which do most of the work, he did mention if he was in town he would shoot, but he may not know his schedule a yr in advance when your signing the contract.... hope it helps!

My fiance and I met with him recently and are just trying to figure if he is in our budget....He mentioned going to a bridal show recently and having "lots of inquiries" around our wedding date, so the pressure got put on me to make a deicsion and  I do not really care for that approach. I am trying to find someone that has actually used him, but it seems difficult. I also noticed that even though he says he was a "the knot" award winner he no longer is listed as a vendor on here which raises some red flags.

Why don't you call Jason Angeli and save yourself a lot of worry?.  He has great reviews.

Gary Kaplan is a great photographer, but definitely pricey.  There are a lot of skilled photographers for a fraction of the cost of Kaplan

I used him recently (1 month ago today!) and LOVED him and his work. He has an eye for lighting and creating unique portraits. I was afraid he was going to be pricey as well but after talking with him he was able to work something out for my budget (with engagement, wedding, and trash the dress session). He has a lot of experience and knows what he needs to do to get the shots - with a lot of people to manage and things going on the day of you definitely want someone who knows what to do and can direct you, your friends, and family to look fabulous.

You don't have to advertise to be a Knot Award Winner. A matter of fact I think it is a bigger achievement to win an award without paying the company that gave you it...</div>

Sounds like he was being helpful when he suggested using more lights to get better results outdoors. Sounds like he was right because your photos came out pretty. Did you pay for him to shoot or his team? Sounds like he was going to shoot if he was in town for the same price. Wow very cool.

 He has shoot over 300 weddings in the last five years and is booked over a year out. Most quality photographers get over 100 inquiries every month amd can only shoot a handfull.
