Vendor Contracts

I know with vendors you have to put a deposit down & sign a contract, whether it be with the photographer, florist, cake, etc. But once you've put down the deposit did you then negotiate with the vendor and their contract that you wouldn't pay in full till after your wedding? I've noticed a lot of vendors require payment in full say two weeks before the wedding and to be honest I don't think any service should be paid for in full before the service was done! Make sense... anyone negotiate that? Not that I'm doubting their work... but just in case?!?!Thanks for any feedback!

I think once you've put down a depot and signed a contract, you lose any negotiating power. So talk to them about your concerns before putting down a deposit. That's my thinking, anyway.

So far with everyone I've booked, you have to pay in full either 2 weeks before the wedding or the week of.

I had the same issue with a videographer that he required full payment two weeks before the wedding and before signing anything I asked if we could hold a small percentage until we received the video or at least until after the wedding and he refused to budge so I went with someone else!  I didn't want to have to worry about him showing up or not delivering on the promised goods.  Some will negotiate with you, some won't... I found one that did =)
