Tradewinds or Sirata

I am having my wedding at the St. Pete Beach Community Center in March.  We are looking at hotels for room blocks as a good portion of our guests are coming from out of town.  We probably need a total of 25 rooms and we want to have 2 options for them: one being more affordable (We are going to use the Dolphin Beach Resort), and the other being a little more high end (either  Sirata, or Tradewinds).  I was wondering if any of you have stayed at these hotels and can tell me whether you recommend the Sirtata or Tradewinds and why?   Thank you in advance!
Photobucket Me:36 DH: 34 TTC since 02/2012, not preventing since 2010. Me: testing came back good. DH: dx: MIF low count/motility. RE recommends IVF with ICSI. Update: DH just diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease, so any IF treatment is on hold :(

I recommend the Tradewinds, and here's why: Sirata is very nice and used to cost less, but if you look them up now online, the price is comparable. We were going to recommend guests stay at the Sirata, but Tradewinds was only $7 more a night!! There is a resort fee for Tradewinds, though, and parking is a few dollars more expensive. I think it's a better, more expansive, m ore inclusive resort, however, and that's ultimately why we're getting married there. Also, the property looks less like a Public Storage at Tradewinds, and if your guests are coming in from out of town, it's a great way to give them the full-on beach experience.

Can't go wrong either way, however. I've stayed at both and loved both. Enjoy!

I stayed at the Sandpiper and SIrata over the week of my wedding and was really disappointed with both.  We should have just stayed at the HOJO with everyone else and saved our money!  We were using a discount code through our venue for the Sandpiper and they managed to mess it up every time someone called to book a room.

I stayed at the Sirata with my bridesmaids and my AC wasn't working.  They sent a security guard to fix it, which of course, he couldn't.  They didn't have any other rooms that size available which was a huge issue with the hair and make up people coming to get us all ready the next day.  They did wind up at least comping the night.

Tradewinds hands down! I have been to and stayed at many of the resorts along the beach. Tradewinds is the only one with the amenities and service your guests will appreciate. I, too, am getting married at the SPB Comm Center, but in February (still high season). Tradewinds provided us with a $169 rate inclusive of the $25 resort fee. One parking spot per room is also included. They also have 2 bedroom suites for my girls and I to be together and get ready in. Hope this helps!

YES - TRADEWINDS.  There are TWO hotels on the Tradewinds resort property:

If your guests have kids, they will enjoy the Tradewinds Island Grand.
But if your guests do not want to spend time dodging kids in the hallways and kids in the pool, etc., then choose Sandpiper.

Our family goes to the Tradewinds every year for an end of school year celebration.  The problem with the Tradewinds is they oversell and don't ever have enough parking.  You have to circle the lot and hope that someone is leaving to get a spot.

Also, the last time I stayed there (in June) their service was horrible.  I'm not that picky.

I do agree that the Tradewinds has more to do, but I think our family agreed we aren't staying there again; which is sad because the property is nice.
